Minnesota PPG is a page I started to promote powered paragliding. We are a small business providing sales, service, and training for PPG pilots/students. I welcome anybody to post their photos/videos of them enjoying the sport. For those who are not familiar with what the sport is all about:
Powered paragliding (aka paramotor or PPG) is a form of ultralight aviation. This motor gives the thrust n
eeded to take off using a paraglider wing. In the US a licence is not required, however training is highly recommended. The ability to fly low and slow in the open air is a feeling like no other. The portability, minimal equipment and maintenance costs, are what makes this a sport for just about anyone. PPGs usually fly between 15 and 50 mph. They can go as low as dragging your foot on water, and up to 24,000+ ft. Most of the flying is done under 500 ft. The paramotor weighs from 45 to 90 pounds. The pilot supports the motor during takeoff, but after a brief run, the wing lifts the motor and the pilot off the ground. I compare the cost to other motor-sports. Prices for a complete new package (wing, harness, and motor) vary $5,000 to $13,000. Just like motorcycles, ATV, or snowmobiles people are always upgraded their equipment, so if a new package is out of your budget we maybe able to find you something used. If you have a something you want to sell, let me know. We can post on our website as well.
