LEISD is committed to implementing hands-on learning in all science classrooms, and today we saw that commitment in action at Little Elm ISD Little Elm Elementary.

Students were actively collecting evidence to answer the question: What happens to the physical properties of substances when they are mixed together?

Through hands-on investigation, students were observing, testing, discussing, and using evidence to build their understanding of how materials interact when combined.

This is science learning in action—students doing the science, not just learning about it! 🔍👏

Mrs. Tier’s 4th Grade class had a great time exploring LEGO® STEM kits! Students worked together to build, problem-solve, and bring their ideas to life! 🧱💡🐾

Students at Little Elm Elementary became material engineers as they built a Wheel of Properties to practice making observations and identifying materials based on their physical properties! 🔄✨

Students explored characteristics they could observe—like color, texture, shape, size, and other physical properties—and used their observations to identify and describe different materials.

Hands-on learning + scientific thinking = STEM in action! 🔬💡

🧲✨ Kindergarten scientists Lakewood Village Elementary are exploring the amazing world of magnets!

Through hands-on investigation, students are discovering how magnets can push and pull and how magnets interact with different objects. They’re making observations, asking questions, and learning that science is all about exploring how and why things happen!
