Dear Parents/Guardians,

On behalf of the entire Quora Secondary Staff, we would like to express our sincerest appreciation for your partnership, incredible patience and flexibility as we have been educating our scholars through the distance learning plan. We understand the enormous responsibility that virtual learning has placed on parents, families, caregivers and scholars, as you had to create space, time and support for learning from home.

We honor all your acts of generosity, kindness, patience and resilience and the fortitude and determination you have demonstrated during this challenging time. We will be continuing with distance learning at the start of the new year, January 4, 2021. In addition, our team is working on changes to the learning models. More information to follow, after the first of the year, with regards to changing our learning model.

Starting on January 6th we will be implementing Working Wednesdays. This will be an opportunity for our scholars to experience learning through non-traditional classroom time and activities. Scholars in grades 7 - 12 will dedicate Working Wednesdays to completing assignments, working on credit acquisition and connecting with teachers/case managers to review progress as the end of semester 1 is on January 22nd. Scholar’s in our Transition programs will work on transition area skills and/or portfolios. There will not be scheduled class times. Rather, we will have content area/transition skills dedicated time for our scholars. You will be receiving a communication in January describing Working Wednesdays for 2ndsemester, which starts on January 26th.

I hope that you find some peace and joy during this winter break. Be safe and stay well. See you in January 2021.

LC6 has adopted a calf from The Tauer Family at Tauer Dairy! Our calf will be arriving at the beginning of December. David and Angie Tauer and their family own and operate Tauer Dairy in Hanska, Minnesota. On their farm, they care for 250 milking cows on a 480-acre farm. Established in 1923, Farmer Angie and her husband are the third generations to live on and manage the dairy farm. For the next 6 months, we will connect with Farmer Angie, to learn about our adopted calf and the farm she lives on.

Our scholars will be able to learn about jobs on the farm and how the farm is run. They will also be learning about the process of farm to table. We will be exploring life on a farm from the eyes of our calf.
