Meet BJ!
At the beginning of the school year, BJ was significantly behind due to the virtual learning SAGA! 😩 BJ was missing a lot of foundational skills that should have been grasped in kindergarten or 1st grade, but would be beginning the 21-22 school year of 2nd grade significantly behind. BJ’s parents and teachers were very concerned about growth and progress. AEP began working with BJ twice a week for 1hr 30 or 2 hr sessions on some homework, but mostly systematic phonics instruction to improve reading. Within our sessions, we have worked ourselves up from a Level B reading level to a comfortable Level E reading level in just under 6 months. This week, BJ’s parents sent me a report of her winter MAP scores. BJ is the most improved student in the class. BJ’s growth percentile is 99%, which means BJ had more academic growth that 99% of the peers in the second grade class. BJ’s initial MAP score was 167, and BJ increased the reading score by 22 points. 📈🤩 This is equivalent to BJ closing the gap of almost an entire school year in 6 months! 🎉Congratulations BJ, keep working hard and applying the skills that we learn! BIG SHOUTOUT to BJ’s parents… Consistency is KEY 🔑!

Meet LB! LB is one of the first students I have tutored. I started working with her at the end of March when Mom reached out with concerns about the COVID virtual school year. At that time LB was ending 1st grade, her reading level was G-H which is on track for the end of 1st grade… grade equivalent 1.8. We have worked consistently for the last 6 months, with weekly meetings! The crazy thing is LB lives out of state and we have only met for tutorial virtually, except for once when her family was visiting Atlanta! 🤯 Today her mom sent me an assessment report that says LB’s grade equivalency is now 3.3. She scored ABOVE AVERAGE on her diagnostics for 2nd grade. In 6 months, we worked to cover an entire grade level! I am beyond proud of her. Thank God from whom all blessings flow! Consistency is KEY! Hard work pays off!!
