Join us August 20 at A Maze'n Farmyard for our Member Appreciation Picnic and 109th Annual Meeting. Farmyard opens to members at 4:30, supper at 5:00, and the meeting program at 6:30 with keynote speaker Glenn Kaping of First District Association.

What a blue-tiful morning outside the Litchfield Public Library (MN)! We read I Love Blueberries by Shannon Anderson, brought our hydroponic blueberries along for show and tell, and UMN Extension - Wright, McLeod and Meeker Counties Master Gardener Beverly Dietrich led the kids through a hands-on science experiment all about blueberries. Nearly 70 people showed up, the kids enjoyed a blueberry snack, and we even sang "Blueberries" by Music with Michal to round things out.

Every family went home with their own copy of the book, made possible by the generous support of Michael Niedzielski, Agent, Farm Bureau Financial Services, the Minnesota Foundation for Agriculture and our Meeker County Farm Bureau members. 🫐📚

Bring your kids and grandkids and come and join us

This Friday at 10:15! Learn about growing blueberries, see how Meeker County Farm Bureau is growing them hydroponically, and have a blueberry snack. On the lawn on the south side of the library, weather permitting. Bring chairs or a blanket to sit on. If the weather doesn't cooperate, the program will be held in the storyhour area of the library.

Has so much today at Cheeseburger Days sponsored by First District Association . We had our hydroponic blueberries along and read Shannon Anderson I love Blueberries and I Love Strawberries books. Of course we had farmers there to answer questions.
county Extension had great activities for kids of all sizes.

What a great day! We had the chance to visit first graders at Lake Ripley Elementary and the School of St. Philip today to read I LOVE Blueberries by Shannon Anderson — a fantastic story about two friends who team up to grow blueberries hydroponically for their whole class.

The kids were genuinely curious, asked great questions, and were engaged the entire time.

Every student took home a book, made possible by the generous support of our Meeker County Farm Bureau members, Michael Niedzielski, Agent, Farm Bureau Financial Services along with his team, and the Minnesota Foundation for Agriculture.

A big thank you to both schools and their teachers for welcoming us, and to everyone who made it possible to put a book in every child's hands. So grateful for days like this! 🫐📚

Members of the Meeker County Farm Bureau recently read "I Love Blueberries!" by Anderson to a local homeschool group. The story introduces students to how food is grown, including hydroponics, where plants like blueberries can be grown using water and nutrients instead of soil.

It was a fun way to spark conversations about growing food, agriculture, and the important role farmers play. Activities like this highlight Meeker County's and Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation"s commitment to agricultural literacy, helping young learners better understand where their food comes from.
