Summer may be winding down, but our colleagues have plenty of memories to look back on—from traveling and spending time with family and friends to taking on new adventures and enjoying a time to relax and recharge.

As the new school year approaches, our faculty and staff have been busy preparing for all that's ahead. We can’t wait to welcome students back to Forman next week!

Will Marchini ’23 returned to Forman as a Summer Program Counselor for his second year. When asked what it meant to return to Forman in this role and what he hoped students would take away from their experience, he shared:

“I was a counselor last summer, and it was an amazing experience to come back and live the other side of things. I’m very thankful to l be able to do it again this summer.”

“I hope that Forman Summer helps to lead these kids into a bright future, hopefully at Forman.”

Today, we honored three incredible educators for their extraordinary dedication to our school community! Cognition and Learning Teacher Tammy Diehl P’19 marked 25 years, Arts Teacher Tammy Grella marked 30 years, and Science Teacher and Director of Outdoor Leadership and the Rainforest Project Wendy Welshans P’24 reached an impressive 35-year milestone at Forman. Thank you, Tammy, Tammy, and Wendy, for your unwavering commitment, passion, and lasting impact on generations of Forman students!

William Bergreen ’25 returned to Forman as a Summer Program Counselor, bringing his experience back to the community that had such a meaningful impact on him. When asked what it meant to return in this new role, William shared:

“Returning to Forman as a counselor was an opportunity for me to give back to the people who had such an important impact on me. As an alum, I understood how important it was to be a mentor and make the kids feel welcomed and encouraged to step outside of their comfort zones once in a while.”

“As the kids leave the Summer Program, I hope they’ve developed an appreciation for all of the unique opportunities Forman provides and realize that there’s simply no other school like Forman. I want the kids to feel excited about the thought of attending Forman and to see it as a place to grow and thrive, as I wouldn’t have had the experiences, achievements, or relationships I did without it.”

Ben Ruddy ’24 returned to Forman this July as a Summer Program counselor. When asked what it meant to return to Forman in this role and what he hoped students would take away from their experience, he shared:

“[Returning to Forman as a Summer Program counselor] feels like my last chapter at Forman School, where I can let go of all of my current worries, focus on myself, and give the students a great experience.”

“What I hope my students take away: to always try hard and never give up, even if the odds seem stacked against you.”

A successful start to the school year begins before students even arrive on campus!

As we get closer to move-in, now is a great time for students to begin building routines that will support a strong transition to Forman—including adjusting sleep schedules, creating consistent bedtime habits, and preparing for the rhythm of the school day.

Back in the role of Summer Program Counselor at Forman, Jeremy Loss ’22 had a chance to build experience in an environment he hopes to make part of his future career—and to serve as a mentor to students along the way:

“Returning to Forman for the Summer Program is especially helpful because I foresee myself working in a similar environment for my career."

"What I try to instill in the kids during the course of the camp is to be confident in themselves and to learn to love learning. I try to embody this ideal by being approachable and acting as a mentor to the kids.”
