Thank you to Tucker and Cody for the oil change and tire rotation! Mr. Stokes' car may have been slightly overdue...

The students walked Mr. Stokes through what they were doing step by step! They also provided him with many suggestions for modifications to make it run louder, and even offered to do it for free. Mr. Stokes politely declined, but said he would keep them in mind if he decided to do that in the future. 😅

Intro to Sports Health Careers hosted Dr. Yvonne Cosentino, the Program Director of the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at Lincoln Land Community College. Students completed an eye-opening vision loss "stack it" challenge where they learned about visual impairment, proprioceptive awareness, tactile discrimination and social training.

Meet the SCI Instructor 👩‍⚕️🍎

Mrs. Engstrom is another new face to the SCI Center. She is the instructor for our new pathway this year - Intro to Sports Health Careers.

Mrs. Engstrom brings 20 years of experience as an OB nurse, several years as a coach, and she brings her own experiences as an athlete.

We are excited to have her at the SCI Center and can't wait to see the opportunities she will continue to provide to our students interested in careers in Sports Health.

The SCI Construction program is selling Picnic Tables as part of their general construction class.

The cost will be $150 and they will be available for pickup in early November.

We are accepting pre-orders for picnic tables, payment must be received before the table will be constructed.

Patti Durbin, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) from St. Francis, Hospital was a guest speaker in Intro to Sports Health Careers. She spoke about careers in Nursing with special emphasis on advanced nursing careers in anesthesia.

We are very fortunate to have so many people within our communities willing to speak with our students about the career opportunities right here within our region.

Ryan Losee from Midwest Technical Institute in Springfield came to visit the SCI classes today. Mr. Losee talked about the difference between a job and a career and shared with them some information in regards to their financial future.

Mr. Losee also shared some information about programs and competitions that MTI has for current high school students. As well as the programs that are available to students once they graduate from high school and are considering their post-secondary options.
