Little Sunshine Preschool Offering Preschool Education for children ages 3-5 in Lisbon and surrounding towns. Hi my name is Katie Mairs, I am the owner of Little Sunshine Preschool.

I was born and raised in C**n Rapids, MN a Northern Suburb of Minneapolis. I moved to Lisbon in 2008. I attended North Dakota State University and received my Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education through Valley City State University. I also have a Minor in Child Development and Family Science and a Kindergarten Endorsement. I taught 1st and 2nd grade in LaMoure, ND, before deciding to stay at h

ome for a few years with my children. In 2014 I bought Cindy’s Preschool and decided to operate as Little Sunshine Preschool. I enjoy serving the community and look forward to being part of your children's lives. At Little Sunshine Preschool children will learn through free play, circle time, structured play, and center time. The curriculum will focus on the following:
-One letter per week
-One color and shape per month
-Weekly/Monthly themes
-Monthly Community Helper
-Monthly Character Trait

I would like to thank all of you for being so patient with the process of finding someone to continue Little Sunshine Preschool. I am happy to announce that Jamie Stanton Ring will be the new owner and teacher of Little Sunshine Preschool!

Jamie lives in Lisbon with her husband Dylan and 4 kids: Aaden (13), Taylor (9), Brynlee (7), and Ainsley (1). She grew up and graduated in Lisbon. Jamie has a Bachelors Degree from Mayville State University with Minors in Early Childhood Education and Science for Elementary Teachers. For the past 8 years she has operated a daycare in Lisbon and taught preschool for 5 years. Over the past 15 years she has had several experiences working in schools and childcare centers. She is looking forward to taking over Little Sunshine Preschool!

I am happy to see that Little Sunshine Preschool will continue to provide quality preschool education for our community! All of my future class lists will be handed over to Jamie and she will be contacting you regarding plans for the fall, we will work together to make this a smooth transition. Little Sunshine Preschool LLC is looking for a part-time preschool teacher.

Responsibilities for Preschool Teacher
* Create fun, creative, educational plans for daily activities for children ages 3-5 years old
* Engage with young children in activities that are age-appropriate and educational
* Foster a positive and healthy learning environment
* Ensure the classroom is kept in a clean and safe condition at all times
* Read stories to the children as a group activity
* Encourage creative thinking and learning
* Communicate with parents effectively

Minimum qualifications of a preschool teacher.
A teacher shall:
1.) Be an adult of good physical, cognitive, social, and emotional health, and shall use mature judgment when making decisions impacting the quality of child care and early childhood education.

2.) Hold at least one of the following qualifications:
a.) A bachelor's degree with at least eight semester hours or twelve quarter hours of department-approved early childhood education or child development;
b.) A teaching certificate in elementary education or kindergarten endorsement;
c.) An associate's degree in the field of early childhood education or child development;
d.) An associate's degree with at least one year of experience in a preschool or similar setting and one of the following:
(1) Eight semester hours or twelve quarter hours of department-approved early childhood education or child development; or
(2) One hundred twenty hours of department-approved early childhood training;
e.) Current certification as a child development associate or similar status; or
f.) Certification from a Montessori teacher training program

3.) Must pass a background check

4.) Strong knowledge of educational techniques and methods for teaching young children

5.) Enthusiastic and encouraging

6.) Excellent verbal and written communication skills

7.) Self Motivated
