We have been doing a lot of moving around this fall. Our goal is to get a sturdy group of girls that we can breed to provide us enough milk to supply our family. Ascutney View OR Snug As A Bug, aka Lady Bug is from Ascutney View Farmstead: Nigerian Dwarvesgoats! and we bred her to our new buck, Canyon 131 Foggy, aka the Fog Man! Well let you know what we get in 5 months when spring shows its face 😆😍

PSA c***r donuts should only be fried in pork lard. Change my mind. I bartered for this lard which originated from Breezy Hill Farm pigs and let me tell you they did not disappoint 💙🐷

Bartering is a BIG deal for us. We barter for a lot around here 😂 Turkey + chicken for a goat. Pumpkins for rabbit hides. Eggs for goat milk. Just to name a few! Honestly, it’s one of my favorite parts of homesteading. We have things other people need, they have things we need, and we trade. It just makes sense. Tell us your favorite barters!

Employee spotlight: our Nigerian Dwarf, Opal 🤍 Opi has kidded twice on our farm. She came from a challenging situation and we have worked with her and given her lots of time and love. She’s now are best milker and just a love bug. Here she is getting a mani/pedi. We feel blessed to have her here! 💙

This chicken and others like her got to forage for bugs and enjoy sunshine. She didn’t have to live her life indoors in a large barn with thousands of other birds sharing the same space. The majority of chicken Americans eat comes from large-scale commercial poultry producers. Only a small fraction is raised and sold locally by small farms. Yes, they have access to feed and water, but generally don’t have outdoor access or the opportunity to forage. That’s not the case for this bird.
