💙💛Discover Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. ✨
Founded in 1881, Bethany College is committed to educating, developing, and challenging students to pursue truth and excellence while leading lives grounded in faith, learning, and service. 💙💛 Founded in 1881 by Swedish-Lutheran immigrants, Bethany College helps students discover their own gifts, talents, skills, abilities, and passions. Find your path by participating in an active campus life (with more than 50 organizations and athletic programs) that challenges you in both living and learning communities. Engaging experiences in and out of class develop communication and critical thinking skills, which prepare students for successful careers and lives of faith, learning, and service. Bethany's core values of integrity, hospitality, community, servant leadership, and sustainability involve students in something bigger than themselves. Service opportunities abound and groups such as the Green Team and the Advocacy Team involve students in earth-friendly and citizenship initiatives. Bethany's fine arts continue rich histories, including the tenure of painter Birger Sandzén and the longest-running American Messiah performance. Fine arts majors learn to make their passion into careers, and non-majors explore art and music through cocurricular clubs and ensembles. As a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Bethany encourages students to explore and deepen their faiths. Find your spirituality through regular chapel services, campus ministry activities, and guidance and pastoral care from Bethany's campus pastor. Are you ready to find your path?

A Prayer for Fall Break

A prayer for our students and for us as we look toward fall break. May we all find space for rest and recentering.

TIRED

I am tired.

I am exhausted.

My schedule is full

and assignments

weigh heavy on my mind.

Grant me rest, O God.

O God, grant me peace.

Restore me.

When this day is over

and a new day has broken,

bless me with energy

and a renewed sense of purpose.

But for now,

slow my body,

slow my mind,

and let me sleep.

Amen.

🎉 Congratulations to Bethany College alumnus Chris Crum ’94! 🎉

Augusta High School and USD 402 have proudly inducted Chris Crum ’89 into the Augusta High School Hall of Fame, honoring an extraordinary life of military heroism, service, entrepreneurship, and compassion for fellow veterans.

A standout athlete at Augusta High School, Chris was named the school’s 1989 Co-Athlete of the Year before continuing his education and football career at Bethany College, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 1994.

Soon after graduation, Chris answered the call to serve his country. He became a U.S. Army Green Beret, serving with the elite 10th Special Forces Group as an Engineer Sergeant and Sniper. His distinguished military career included combat deployments to Kosovo and Iraq, where his bravery during the 2003 invasion of Iraq earned him the Bronze Star Medal with Valor.

His remarkable journey continued through executive protection, national security, entrepreneurship, photography, and service to veterans. In 2017, Chris co-founded Phoenix Rising Inc., a nonprofit providing cost-free mountain wilderness experiences for veterans, first responders, and their families.

From the football field in Augusta to the campus of Bethany College and a life dedicated to courage, service, and community, Chris exemplifies the impact one person can make.

💙💛 Congratulations, Chris, on this well-deserved honor! We are proud to call you a Bethany Swede.

🏆 Happy National Coaches Day! 🏆

Today, we celebrate the incredible coaches who make a difference in the lives of our student-athletes, on the court, on the field, in the classroom and far beyond.

Our Bethany College coaches do so much more than teach the game. They mentor, encourage, challenge, and inspire. They help our Swedes discover their strengths, navigate setbacks, build confidence, and become leaders prepared to make a difference in the world.

To every Bethany College Coach: thank you for the countless hours, the early mornings, the late nights, the practices, the bus rides, the game-day moments and, most importantly, for believing in our students.

💙💛 Thank you for everything you do for Bethany College and our Swedes!

🤖✝️ Faith, Technology & the Common Good

Bethany College’s Brittany Torres, Director of AI Initiatives, presented at the Central States Synod Fall Theological Conference on October 1–2, exploring the intersection of Lutheran theology and artificial intelligence.

Her sessions focused on ethical discernment and responsible AI integration in ministry, helping participants consider not only what AI can do, but how we can use these emerging technologies thoughtfully and faithfully.

Brittany also led a hands-on workshop equipping ELCA pastors with practical AI tools for congregational life, turning big questions about technology into tangible skills and applications for ministry.

We’re proud to see Brittany representing Bethany and helping shape meaningful conversations about what it means to use AI wisely, responsibly, and faithfully. 💙💛
