Smoky Valley band kiddos rocked the 3A state solo and ensemble contest with their enthusiasm and dedication to all things music! The performances included 6 ensembles and 12 out of 14 solos that earned 1 ratings, proving that these kids are no strangers to hard work and a commitment to musical greatness!

With the school year coming to a close its time to start thinking about some summer lessons!

I have several openings for summer music lessons in Lindsborg, KS. I am accepting all levels from beginning to high school. Each lesson will be individualized to meet that student's needs. All music and book materials will be provided. I have a degree in instrumental music education and am currently pursuing my masters degree. I specialize in brass and woodwind but can provide lessons to beginners in percussion. I also teach guitar and ukulele to anyone who is interested.

Beginning 5th Grade: Learn beginning technique and make beginning sounds. Book materials are provided or student may provide their own.

6th-8th grade: Continue appropriate technique for the grade level. Students may provide music if they would like but book materials will be provided as well

High School: Continue appropriate technique and exercises. KMEA audition and solo preparation. Instrument doubling lessons are also available for those wanting to learn a new instrument or who are wanting to double to be able to play for musicals. Students may bring music otherwise book materials will be provided.

College: Any college student who wants to keep up with playing their over the summer. Music education majors who are wanting to have more experience playing woodwinds or brass or any instrument they want to be more proficient in.

The future of music looks bright with the talented kids from Smoky Valley Middle School band leading the way! Their performances at the middle school contest today earned them all I's for their large group performance, 20 I ratings and 2 II ratings. Bravo!
