🎪 It’s a Cafeteria Circus! 🎪

It’s National School Lunch Week, and in addition to highlighting the delicious offerings cooked up by our lunchroom staff, it’s also a chance to celebrate them and the incredible work they do to make lunchtime at Rocky Mountain Elementary something to look forward to each day!

This week, our menu has been adjusted to a carnival theme, with such goodies as Dutch waffles, nachos, pretzels, and churro bites. Adding to the fun, students who receive a lunch tray with an “X” on the bottom receive a prize! 🎉

Our lunch ladies do so much more than serve meals. They welcome students, care for them, and serve up a huge helping of kindness and love right alongside the delicious meals they prepare.

Happy National School Lunch Week to our amazing cafeteria team! We appreciate you all so much! ❤️🐾

Meet Our Social and Emotional Wellness Team! 💙

Did you know that Rocky Mountain Elementary has a team of social and emotional wellness professionals who work alongside our teachers and school leaders to support students?
You may not see them every day, and because they are part time members of our school team, you may not have met them yet. But their influence on our students is significant. They help students navigate emotions, relationships, behavior, and challenges so they can feel safe, connected, and ready to learn.

So, who does what?

Mrs. Isom, School Psychologist
Mrs. Isom is our behavioral specialist. She primarily supports students with behavioral needs, helping us better understand student behavior and determine strategies and supports that can help students be successful at school.

Mrs. Finch, School Counselor
Mrs. Finch helps students develop the social and emotional skills they need to be successful. She teaches whole group lessons focused on skills such as kindness, relationships, problem solving, and emotional well being, while also providing individual support to students when needed.

Mrs. Shoell, Intern Social Worker
Mrs. Shoell supports students and families with challenges that can affect a student's ability to thrive at school. Social workers can provide therapy and counseling, connect families with community resources, advocate for students, and help address social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

Although their roles are different, all three share the same goal: helping our Cougars feel safe, connected, and confident so they are ready to learn. 🐾

We are grateful for these three caring professionals and the important work they do for our students and families! ❤️

We are thrilled to celebrate Ana Miranda as the Rogers and Russell Teacher of the Month for September! ❤️🐾

This recognition is especially meaningful because it comes directly from members of our community. Community members nominate teachers by sharing why they believe a teacher deserves this honor, and Profesora Miranda received several nominations celebrating the positive impact she has on her students.

Ana, thank you for the care, dedication, and heart you bring to your classroom each day. We are so grateful you are part of the Rocky Mountain team, and we are excited to see you receive this well deserved recognition!

We kicked off the school year at Rocky Mountain with a little mystery, a secret agent theme, and an important mission for all of our Cougars!

For our first kickoff assembly of the year, Principal Eagar and our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Rebekah Stauffer, became secret agents and challenged students to learn our new and revised Cougar Code:

..so we can LEARN!

Things started with a mysterious video featuring a secret agent message before Mrs. Stauffer and Principal Eagar entered to reveal the mission. Students were introduced to what each part of the Cougar Code means and how we can put it into practice throughout our school.

We also introduced a new framework we will be using this year called Zones of Regulation. Students learned about the four color zones and how we can notice and name what we are feeling, figure out what we need, and choose what to do next. This framework helps us understand our feelings and develop strategies that help us get back to a place where we are ready to learn.

We hope this video gives our families a glimpse into how we kicked off the year and introduced these important ideas to our students. As we continue the year, you'll hear more about both the Cougar Code and Zones of Regulation at school. You may even find that using some of this same language at home becomes a helpful way to talk with your child about their feelings, choices, and how they can keep learning.

We were so excited to have Rocky Mountain participate in the Lindon Days Parade last Friday! We saw so many Rocky Mountain students there, and it was so much fun to see you, get your waves and smiles, and even share some candy with you. And thanks for singing along to our school song!

We have a couple of pictures and a video to share from the parade. What a wonderful way to kick off a celebration of Rocky Mountain’s 30th year of serving the Lindon community!

🎉 Come cheer on Rocky Mountain Elementary at the Lindon City Parade this Friday, August 7!

The parade travels west along Center Street from 700 East to Main Street. Watch for many of our Rocky Mountain faculty and staff, and join in singing the school song as we pass by!

This is just one of the many ways we're celebrating Rocky Mountain Elementary's 30th anniversary this year, and we'd love to celebrate with you.

Can you believe we’ll be back together in just three weeks? We know summer went by fast, but we are so excited to welcome you back to Rocky Mountain Elementary!

This year is going to be extra special as we celebrate 30 years of learning, growing, and serving the Lindon community and the families who make Rocky Mountain such a special place.

We are excited to invite our entire school community to celebrate Festa Junina, a vibrant Brazilian festival that honors rural life, culture, and the harvest season!
