FCYF members had a great educational meeting this week reminding them of basic First Aid on the Farm skills. Rome Middle and Rome High School’s FFA chapters partnered with Atrium Health medical staff to distribute first-aid kits to FCYF members—what a great gift that all farmers need to have handy! Join us for our next monthly meeting on Thursday, April 16th at Sourheast AgriSeed!

We were pleased to host the Floyd County Young Farmers Association volunteers this week. Several hundred Backpack Buddies were assembled during their visit.

FCYF Members had a great night serving at the Northwest Georgia Hunger Ministries this week. Not only did we race to pack as many backpack buddies as we could in an hour, but we also learned how we can serve and give to our community and surrounding counties! If you are looking for an organization to donate produce, meat, or goods from your farm, reach out to them. There is a lot of good that gets done in that building!

FCYF members celebrated a great year at the Georgia Young Farmers Convention! Mark Lamade was recognized as the Member of the Year for the FCYF chapter, and FCYF was recognized for an increase in chapter membership.

If you want to know if you can eat Pick O’Deli country fried steak with a spoon, some of our members figured out the answer is yes! Tonight was a great meeting of delicious food, good company, and a helpful speaker. Add Tuesday, March 10th at 6:30 to your calendar so you can join in on the fun too! We will be back at the Rome-Floyd Eco Center with a hands-on First Aid on the Farm meeting. Promise that we will have enough forks for everyone!

Congratulations to FCYF Board Member Rachael Dunaway for winning the Atrium Health Floyd January Teacher of the Month! Rachael does a fantastic job teaching agriculture and advising the FFA chapter at Rome High School. We are thankful that she is a part of our organization and know that our community is better because of her role in it!

We had a great time surprising our January SuperStar Teacher of the Month, presented by Atrium Health Floyd, Rachael Dunaway, agriculture teacher at RCS College and Career Academy. Keep an eye on our social media later this week to see the surprise video.

It was a bad day to be a hot dog at the FCYF Forestry Field Day! This event is always a great opportunity for our members to serve and meet FFA members and advisors as they prepare for the upcoming Forestry Career Development Event. Thank you to the Barton family for so generously providing a gorgeous location, North Region Forestry teacher Kathrine Patel for organizing, Georgia Forestry Commission friends for sharing their expertise, and Georgia-Pacific for sponsoring the awards and meal.

Merry Christmas from the FCYF Chapter! It was great seeing everyone at the annual Christmas party and trivia. Congrats to the trivia winning team and thanks so much to everyone who brought a door prize from their Farm/Agriculture hobby. thanks also to chef Kayla Crabbe with “Chef Mommy” who brought an amazing meal!
