🦁 A Special First-Day Visit!
Father Dan made his way around Saint Leo’s today, visiting classrooms with flowers for our teachers and staff and wishing everyone a wonderful school year ahead. 🌸

While visiting each homeroom, he had a question for the students: “What is a mascot?”
And once they had that figured out, there was only one thing left to do…
Stand up and give Father Dan their biggest LION ROAR! 🦁

A fun way to add a little extra Saint Leo’s spirit to our first day! Thank you, Father Dan!

🙏 WELCOME, REV. DANIEL F. SWIFT!

As we prepare to begin another exciting school year at Saint Leo the Great, we are happy to officially welcome Reverend Daniel F. Swift, our new Pastor, to the Saint Leo the Great School community!

Father Dan joined Saint Leo the Great Parish on July 1 after serving for 11 years as Pastor of St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church and School in Medford, NJ. Saint Leo’s marks his fourth pastorate with a Catholic school, having previously served at Holy Trinity in Long Branch and St. Benedict in Holmdel.

A Catholic school graduate himself, Father Dan has a longstanding commitment to Catholic education. In 2013, he was honored by the National Catholic Educational Association with its Distinguished Pastor of a Catholic School Award. He looks forward to becoming involved in school life and teaching religion on a rotating basis throughout our grades.

Over the past several weeks, Father Dan has been busy getting to know our parish and meeting members of the Saint Leo’s community. Now, as our faculty and staff return and our students prepare to fill the halls once again, we look forward to beginning our first school year together.

Please join us in giving Reverend Daniel Swift a warm Saint Leo’s welcome as we begin the 2026–2027 school year!

Welcome to Saint Leo’s, Father Dan!

☀️ Summer at Saint Leo’s is anything but quiet! 🦁

While our students have been enjoying summer, there’s been plenty happening behind the scenes as we prepare for another great school year!

Painting, deep cleaning, courtyard repairs, classrooms being organized and countless other jobs, big and small, are all part of getting Saint Leo’s ready to welcome everyone back.

We’re also installing a new school-wide clock, PA, and classroom alert system plus a few other changes you’ll definitely notice. And wait until you see what’s new in the gym! 👀🏀

A big thank you to everyone working behind the scenes this summer to make it all happen. The final touches are underway, and we can’t wait to welcome our students back!

“When I look back on my time at Saint Leo’s, I realize how much it helped shape the person I am today. The discipline, work ethic, faith, and sense of responsibility I developed there stayed with me throughout my college baseball career, medical school, and now my Emergency Medicine residency at HCA Florida Westside Hospital.
Saint Leo’s taught me to always work hard, be a good teammate, and treat every person with compassion and respect. I am proud to be a Saint Leo graduate and grateful that the foundation for becoming a doctor started there.”

We are proud to celebrate Dr. Joseph Sparber ’13 and all he has accomplished!

🎓 Lehigh University, Class of 2019
Patrick earned his Psychology degree from Lehigh University before playing professional basketball overseas in Portugal and Japan, where he embraced new cultures while continuing to play the sport he loves. After his playing career, he went on to earn graduate degrees from North Carolina State University and the University of St. Thomas before beginning his career as a Mental Health Therapist.
Today, Patrick and his wife, Hannah, are enjoying their first year as homeowners in Minnesota.
Reflecting on his years at Saint Leo the Great, Patrick shared:
"My experience at SLG deeply shaped the course of my life, instilling the core values of kindness, dignity, and respect for others that define my career today. I look back very fondly on the unique stability of growing up with the same classmates and teachers from Kindergarten through 8th grade. That journey ultimately came full circle when I was married in the Catholic Church. Being raised in such a special community during those pivotal years was a profound blessing, and I will always cherish the memories made there."
Patrick's journey is a wonderful reminder that success takes many paths. From Saint Leo to professional basketball, graduate school, and a career dedicated to helping others, he continues to make our school community proud. Congratulations, Pat!
