In the wilderness, a fire can dry wet gear, purify water, cook food, boost morale, and signal for rescue. But it doesn’t happen by accident. Fire making takes preparation, practice, and patience.

Carry multiple ignition sources. Know how to build a fire lay that matches the conditions. Gather more tinder and fuel than you think you need. And remember — if you can’t make fire when you’re cold, tired, and wet, you can’t make fire when it counts.

Don't be scared! Yes, this is copperhead snake. It is venomous like some other snakes in the woods. There are also ticks, spiders, predatory wildlife, poison plants, ECT. But don't be scared! This world is an amazing place; there are countless wonders to see & learn from outdoors. Many potential hazards can be mitigated by simply informing yourself of your surroundings and the living things that call it home. Please don't miss out on something so rewarding because of fear. If you want to learn and get outdoors but do not have the knowledge or experience to be confident doing so, contact a guide! That's what we are here for and love having the chance to show people that learning about & respecting the backcountry or extreme activity can replace that fear!
