Creator Catherine Samatas, Director of Dementia Reality™, recognized that traditional training could never fully convey the lived experience. She believed empathy isn't simply taught; it must be experienced.

This program was thoughtfully developed using evidence-based dementia care principles and adult learning best practices to create an educational experience that empowers caregivers with both empathy and practical skills.

Dementia Reality had a great time at the LeadingAge Illinois Annual Conference & Expo, connecting with aging services professionals from across the state and sharing innovative approaches to dementia education and care.

Dementia Reality™ combines immersive 360° video technology with virtual reality to create realistic, interactive training experiences that bring dementia care to life.

Led by master trainers with years of dementia training experience, sessions are delivered in small groups of up to 10 trainees using VR headsets. Each module focuses on a specific care scenario, followed by a guided discussion to reflect on what participants saw and felt.

This powerful blend of experience and reflection is designed to deepen empathy, strengthen understanding, and transform the way caregivers provide care.
