We are happy to welcome Kimberly Rumfelt to WLMS as our new 7th grade math teacher!

Mrs. Rumfelt shares this about herself:

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be joining West Lincoln Middle! I've been teaching for over 20 years at Lincolnton Middle School, and while I'm grateful for all the memories I've made there, I'm looking forward to this new adventure. West Lincoln is especially close to my heart because I was born and raised here. My husband and I have two wonderful children, and family is a big part of who I am. I can't wait to meet all of the students, families, and staff and be a part of such a great school community.

We are very excited to welcome Stephenie Causey, our new 6th grade math teacher, to West Lincoln Middle!

Mrs. Causey shares this about herself:

I am looking forward to an amazing school year filled with learning, laughter, and growth! This is my 11th year of teaching, and I am so excited to be at WLMS as the new 6th grade math teacher. I graduated from Appalachian State University, where I also met my wonderful husband, Chase. Together, we have two amazing boys, Baylor and Bodyn. Baylor is in second grade, and Bodyn is in kindergarten.

We currently reside in the West Lincoln area, and we are excited to become more involved and fully immerse ourselves in this wonderful community. We look forward to building connections, making memories, and being a part of the experiences that make this area such a special place to call home.

A fun fact about me… I absolutely LOVE chickens! You could even say I’m a little obsessed—LOL! At home, we have quite the little farm with more than 60 chickens, 10 ducks, 1 goose, 9 goats, 1 pig, 2 dogs, and 4 cats. I also have a very special classroom pet named Leo, a bearded dragon, who is always a favorite among my students.

I can’t wait to get to know each of you and make this a wonderful year full of curiosity, kindness, and unforgettable memories!

We are so happy to welcome, Mrs. Natalie Martin, as our new CTE teacher!

Here is what Mrs. Martin shares about herself:

Hello West Middle! I’m excited to meet you and be part of this school year with you all! It’s been my heart's desire, and I’ve waited eagerly to join WLMS for a while now. It’s truly an honor and privilege to be here. Pictured are my husband of 4 years Matt, my children Elizabeth (7th) and William (5th). My family is hands down my why! Life is incredibly short so we must do what we love and love what we do! I love people, I love children and I want to make a difference!

This year, students will be “Under Instruction” with me as my Student Crews who will Explore, Engineer, Invent and Innovate! We will grab our hard hats and get ready to dig in for a semester of learning as we build and learn together. Who knew construction applied to instruction could bring about such remarkable possibilities?! We will discover these together and I can’t wait for the light bulb moments!

A background of my professional experience: I found my way to education when my children were born and when returning to my career in the finance industry wasn't as appealing to a new mother as before. I had new priorities. I leveraged my banking experience of 14 years as an operations manager (where a lot of my role was training others) and masters in accounting degree to enter the education field lateral entry during the pandemic of 2020. I began as an emergency hire teaching HS business for St. Stephen's HS while obtaining my teaching degree and licensure. In 2022 I moved to Northview Middle where I completed the new teacher program and was awarded Wilmer Jenkins Teacher of the Year by my peers and Legacy Leader from a former student at SSHS. My husband and I were married that year and began building our home in Vale.

I took a step away from education briefly; first I completed a coauthor-ship “Serving from the Heart”. It was published and made #1 Best Seller in 2025 for Valentine’s Day! Becoming a published author was one of my life’s goals. I then used my business knowledge to support a business for a year and help them reach their goals. I handed it over to new leadership in better shape; that was rewarding to accomplish. Now I am here and I couldn’t be more grateful for this opportunity! I’m so excited to build, learn, lead, thrive, explore, engineer, innovate and invent with students this year! Have a great year and let me know how I can support you!

A big, Chief Nation welcome to Emily Rees, our new 8th grade math teacher!

Ms. Rees shared this about herself:

I grew up in Burke County, NC. After high school, I attended Western Carolina University to obtain my bachelors degree in Education. This will be my third year teaching, but my first year teaching 8th grade!

When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time outdoors, walking my dogs, reading a good book, and painting. I have a true passion for teaching and love seeing the moment when a concept finally clicks and students realize they can do something they once thought was impossible.

I am thrilled to be joining the West Lincoln Middle School family and can't wait to learn, grow, and have an amazing year together!

West Fest was a huge success! Thanks so much to all the sponsors, volunteers, and families who participated.

We are so excited to welcome, Dwhela Fleurimond, our new 6th grade science teacher!

Mrs. Fleurimond shares this about herself:

Born and raised in New York, I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Lehman College. Back in 1997, I met my wonderful husband—we’ve now been happily married for 25 years and are the proud parents of four amazing kids who bring us so much joy every single day.

Teaching isn't just my job; it's my genuine passion. With a Master of Education in teaching and learning and over 27 years of classroom experience across several states, my main goal is to educate, inspire, and support young people as they grow. I strongly believe in nurturing the "whole scholar," creating inclusive, welcoming classrooms where every child feels seen and motivated. By blending hands-on activities, practical classroom technology and personalized instruction, I make sure every unique learner gets what they need to thrive and reach their full potential.
