Good evening, LHS families!

I’d like to start this week’s call by thanking everyone for a wonderful Homecoming week! From the Building Our Pack event to the Pep Rally, parade, and dance, it was a wonderful week celebrating what it means to be a Wolf. A special congratulations goes to Ashley Pena, our 2026 Homecoming Queen!

On Monday this week, all students will receive their first quarter report card. Please review this report with your student and help them set goals for improvement or continued success in Quarter Two. As a reminder, Infinite Campus provides a complete list of assignment scores so that you can pinpoint additional areas of focus and celebration.

This week is College Application Week and we encourage our seniors to take advantage of all the opportunities and activities we have planned. On Monday, our counselors will visit EPF classes to provide information about FAFSA and will host a RDS info and help session during Alpha. If your student is interested, please ask that they sign up in Flex. On Wednesday, we encourage all students, not just our seniors, to wear their favorite college gear on College Colors Day! Throughout the week, students can sign up for individual appointments with counselors for help with answering questions about the application process as well as with completing and submitting those applications. Each application submitted will earn a student a raffle ticket toward Friday’s raffle of prizes including gift cards, airpods, and gift baskets from local businesses. Each student can earn up to five tickets. We look forward to celebrating with our seniors this week as they take big steps toward their future!

In other school events, our Art Club and National Art Honor Society will meet on Wednesday after school in Ms. Lanier’s room. Tickets will go on sale this week for a favorite LHS tradition: the Murder Mystery Dessert Theatre. If you would like a ticket for next Monday’s performance, please contact Mr. Stephens. You don’t want to miss the show! On Thursday this week, LHS will host the central zone’s Literacy Under the Lights event at our stadium. If you have younger children at Battleground, Lowder, Massey, or LMS, we encourage you to attend this event where our future wolves will get the chance to pick out a book and read under the lights with one of our student athletes.

This week is a bye week for our football teams, but our soccer teams will still be in action. On Monday, both JV and Varsity teams will travel to Polk County for a non-conference match up. Wednesday will see varsity back in action on their home field against Highland Tech. Our cross country team will run their conference meet at Shelby on Tuesday. We encourage all LHS fans to come support our teams this week! On Friday, our Athletics Department will host the 1st Annual Co****le Tournament. Teams and individuals will compete in separate brackets, and there is both a student and adult division. It’s not too late to sign up, so contact Coach Gates or Coach JB for more information!

Good evening, LHS families!

As a reminder, there is no school on Monday or Tuesday for students as teachers will be finalizing grades for first quarter and participating in professional development. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Wednesday morning!

It’s Homecoming Week and we have a full week of activities. Students are encouraged to dress up for Spirit Week Theme Days. Wednesday is Jungle/Safari Day, Thursday is Country v. Country Club Day, and Friday is Black and Gold Day. We look forward to seeing students showing their school spirit but please remind them that dress code rules still apply! In addition to dress-up days, we will have several events for students.

On Thursday, our seniors will participate in our 3rd annual Building Our Pack event with kindergartners from our feeder elementary schools. Seniors received an email with important reminders about this event, but we appreciate senior parents reminding them to dress in their black and gold and to meet at the new gym lobby at 1:15 so that we can walk to the stadium as a group. Seniors are not allowed to drive to the event so students who are off campus but returning to participate should still park on campus. Parents are welcome to attend. The top gate will be open from 1:00-1:20 for parents to enter and sit on the home side. Please bring a photo ID to check in at the gate. There will be no entry after 1:20.

On Friday, we will have our Homecoming pep rally at 2:15 in the new gym where we will recognize our Homecoming representatives and Homecoming Court. Our Homecoming Parade will begin at 4pm with a new route for this year. Line-up will be on Water Street and will proceed down Main Street and a quarter turn around the Court Square before continuing down North Aspen on the way back to school. Our Homecoming football game with kick off at 7:30 Friday night against Stuart Cramer. And, our Homecoming week will conclude on Saturday with the Homecoming Dance from 7:30-10:30 in the commons area. Wednesday is the last day to purchase tickets. The cost is $20. As a reminder, students cannot attend the dance if they have had a full day of ISS or OSS since Monday, October 5.

In other school events, All 10th graders will take the Pre-ACT on Thursday morning. Please make sure your student is on time for school and has charged their chromebook in advance of testing. Testing will last for most of the morning. Please remind your student to check their testing location; room assignment lists are posted around the commons area and throughout the school for their reference. Make-up pictures will be taken on Friday. Students will be called to the media center by grade level. Pictures will ONLY be taken in the morning during 1st period, 2nd period, and Alpha Time (There will be a last call.). If a student needs a picture taken and are not on campus in the morning, they should plan to be in the media center at 11am to take their picture before the photographers close down the cameras. The same information about retakes is still true. If students paid for pictures and don't like them, they need to bring the pictures back and can retake the picture. They may also pay for the first time to retake pictures as well. Those pictures can be ordered at carolinaphoto.net.

For athletic events during Homecoming Week, Monday kicks off with tennis playoffs at West Wilkes, volleyball competing in the Conference Tournament at East Gaston at 6:00 PM, and soccer hosting Stuart Cramer. On Tuesday, JV Soccer travels to East Lincoln, followed by varsity soccer playing their match against East Gaston at home on Wednesday. On Thursday, JV Football plays on the road at Stuart Cramer. To wrap up the week on Friday night, we will celebrate Homecoming with our varsity football team hosting Stuart Cramer.
