One of our favorite Friday football traditions is showing our Wolfpack pride with teachers wearing our athletes' jerseys. Even though we played on Thursday this week, we still made sure to support our football team!

This week, our Wolves have spent time during Alpha building shared definitions of leadership, talking about healthy habits, and celebrating role models at LHS. We are thankful to have this time for students to invest in themselves and their own leadership potential!

Good evening, LHS families!

We enjoyed our first full week with students last week and appreciate your help in making sure students were at school on time and ready to learn. It has been a great start to the school year and we thank you for your support! In celebrations, our volleyball, varsity soccer and varsity football teams picked up big wins last week as our fall seasons get underway! We are proud of our sports teams for starting the season strong.

This week, we will host our first home football game against North Lincoln. Kickoff will be at 7:30 and the gates will open at 6:00. Tickets are still $8 and can be purchased at the gate with cash or card. Digital tickets are also available for purchase through Go Fan. We look forward to a fun night supporting our student athletes and so it’s important that we remind everyone of the Lincoln County Schools’ Fan Code of Conduct. All children under high school age must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or guardian over the age of 21. Any fan who uses offensive language, who verbally harasses school staff, coaches, or student athletes, or who participates or instigates a physical altercation will have to leave the game. Please remind our youngest fans to leave their footballs at home as pick-up games outside the concession stand can lead to injuries in a crowded area. As an additional safety precaution, the gate between the home and visitor sides will close at halftime, so please make sure that you are on the side where you are seated when that happens. The gate will remain closed until after the visiting team has exited the stadium. Please also remember that fans are not allowed on the field or the track behind the bench during or after the game. This is another measure to ensure player and team safety.

Before we get to Friday, there are plenty of ways to support our student athletes. On Monday, our soccer teams will play home games against Freedom. Tuesday will see our volleyball team playing Shelby at home, our cross-country team running their pre-season meet at Shelby, and our tennis team playing on the road at East Lincoln. On Wednesday, our varsity soccer team will play an away game at Bessemer City and our volleyball team will be at home against Chase. Volleyball will play another home game against Burns on Thursday and our JV football team will travel to North Lincoln for their game.

As we get into the routine of the school year, we wanted to make sure families were aware of our Parent Landing Page, which is linked in the email version of the call and can be found on our school website. The Parent Landing Page is a one-stop resource for school policies and information. You’ll find links to school-level information, as well as district handbooks and calendars. Be sure to bookmark the page, as it is updated frequently throughout the year.

We look forward to another great week with our Wolves! Thank you for being a part of it!

A note about the Share Table:

Now that summer is over and school is back in session, our priority is to always make sure that we have food to give out to students on Monday afternoons. If our donations are large enough, we will also open the table for families on Sundays. This may mean that we make a last-minute decision to cancel the Sunday Table when we do our weekly pickup and find that we do not have enough to supply the Table for students and the Table for families. If you are a family that relies on the Table to have enough food for the week, please encourage your student to stop by on Mondays at dismissal. You can also reach out to Ms. Ballard by phone or email so that she can send home an extra bag with your student on Monday, if the Table does not open on Sunday.

With that being said, we do plan to open this afternoon at 1:30 in the cafeteria. Please plan to stop by and pack a bag of fresh food, if you are in need.
