LCST students were recognized in the Lake Norman Publications. Lincoln County students now have access to a new technical education program that prepares them for careers in the commercial drone industry through hands-on flight training and industry-recognized certifications.

Andrew Sabin, the instructor, has started talking with the local police and fire departments about potential guest speakers and job opportunities with search and rescue and fire containment, which are two growing drone pilot careers. Other careers include inspections for large companies like Duke Power, real estate video sales and private party video and photography.

Mrs. Hovis’s Computer Science 2 students had the opportunity to work with 3rd graders from GE Massey to introduce them to the basics of coding. Through hands-on activities and teamwork, our high school students guided the younger learners in problem-solving, logical thinking, and creativity with technology. It was great to see our students building leadership skills while inspiring the next generation of coders.

Students in the Game Art & Design class used their creativity and ideas to design their own card games. After creating them, students were able to test the games out in class and play each other's creations.

One of the games, called “We've Got to Invest,” is a competitive stock market game where players make investment decisions over several rounds with the goal of finishing with the highest profit. The game is highly strategic and encourages students to think through choices related to gaining or losing money—just like real-world financial decisions.

Another game created by a student is called “To the Letter.” This is a fun social guessing game where players must guess a word without using certain letters or gestures. The game challenges players to think creatively and use descriptive language and adjectives to communicate clues.

It was great to see students bring their ideas to life and watch their classmates enjoy the games they designed.

More student-created games will be tested in class and featured soon. Stay tuned!

Dr. Seuss Week Fun!

Some of our students and teachers spent time visiting with G.E. Massey Elementary students today. To celebrate Dr. Seuss Week, they read with younger students and helped promote a love for books.

Moments like these show how powerful reading and mentorship can be. Our students and teachers did an amazing job connecting with the younger kids and making reading fun!

LCST Wins Bronze at the NASOT Winter Games 2026!

The Lincoln County School of Technology (LCST) proudly earned the Bronze Medal in the Secondary Division for the NASOT (New Art and Science of Teaching) Winter Games 2026, placing 3rd among high schools!

This incredible achievement reflects the hard work, dedication, and excellence of our team.
