‼️‼️POWER SHUTOFF UPDATE 10/9/19 4:15PM:

Power has been restored to the District Office, the network, and all school sites. We anticipate conducting normal business tomorrow, Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the District Office and all school sites.

All of our school sites and the District Office WILL BE OPEN for students and staff and we will conduct business as usual. Thank you for your continued support throughout the power and weather events.

We will continue working alongside the Placer County Office of Education, Placer County Health & Human Services department and the Placer County Office of Emergency Services to monitor any possible outages in the future.

Power Outage Resources:
We believe planning ahead is the best safeguard. PG&E offers many resources to help prepare your home, family and business for a potential PSPS.
• Update your contact information directly with PG&E at pge.com/mywildfirealerts to receive alerts for potential power shutoffs.
• Identify backup charging methods for phones and keep hard copies of emergency numbers.
• Plan for any medical needs such as medication that needs refrigeration or devices that require power. View additional information about medical needs from PG&E.
• Build or restock your emergency kits with flashlights, fresh batteries, first aid supplies and cash. Have enough nonperishable food and water stored to meet your basic needs for at least a few days.

Come join us tomorrow night in the new Library (not Spirit Center) to be informed about the risks of vaping. Presentation will begin at 6:00.

WPUSD - LHS Fighting Zebras - Building Greatness Since 1907

Hello LHS Parents- as we try to keep you up to date on some of the dangers to your students out there, we wanted to make you aware of the latest stealth vape device, made to look like a smart watch.

[09/19/19]   Homework help will be available in the library starting on Monday, September 23 from 2:00-4:00 and on Tuesdays-Thursdays from 3:00-5:00. Any student that wants extra help, access to the internet, or a quiet place to work may attend. Please note that students who do attend must stay in the Library the entire time! The only way to check a student out will be to come to the library and check them out in person. All school rules will apply in the after school study hall. This means students will not be allowed to be on their phones during this time. Students are expected to work the entire time and if they do not have work to do, they are expected to read a book. We are hoping to provide a positive environment where students can work productively. Please contact Mr. Van Court or Mrs. Parker if you have concerns.

Thank you to the students that were able to come out to Science Night tonight! Students and families had great opportunities to be hands on with science and have fun! 🧪🧫 🧬

We can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow night!

We are kicking off the school year with a whopper of a Student Spotlight - highlighting not just one student, but three! Three sisters have quite the tight schedule outside of their regular school day. Six-year-old Emeliann Grandin, nine-year-old Charlotte Grandin, and eleven-year-old Lily Grandin are all chasing that checkered flag when they aren't at school. Emeliann and Charlotte both attend Carlin C. Coppin, while Lily is in her first year at Glen Edwards Middle School. The racing trio all race quarter midget racecars in different motor classes. Emeliann races in the novice (or beginner) division with a speed restricted motor. The older sisters are both racing the senior Honda motor with no speed restrictions. The girls race during the nine-month long season, racing 20-30 races within that time. The family primarily races in the Northern California Area, with a few major races across the country. Over Thanksgiving, these racing rockstars head to Las Vegas to compete against over 350 cars. When asking father, Carl, what sparked their interest in racecar driving, he mentioned their mom, Sue, grew up around drag racing. His biggest motivation to get the girls involved was the driving experience they would have under their belts, once it came time to get behind the wheel of a daily driver.
When the family isn't out on the racetrack, all three girls are involved in 4H. In addition, Emeliann and Charlotte play softball (Charlotte is on the All-Star Team) and Lily plays waterpolo. All three girls maintain their schoolwork and still have time for their family and fun! These girls are definitely on the right track for a bright future!

Thank you for all your hard work in getting our school ready for students!

We would like to take a moment to recognize our incredibly hard-working and (temporarily) under-staffed I.T. Department for their diligence in getting as many help tickets completed as possible. The month isn't even over yet, and they've completed almost 600 help tickets!! You guys rock!! We appreciate you!
