The Mari Sandoz Society works to build an appreciation of Mari Sandoz’s body of work and to preserve the legacy of this premier historian and writer.

The Mari Sandoz Heritage Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization responsible for preserving and sharing the legacy of Nebraska author Mari Sandoz, her literary and historical works honoring the land and the people about which she wrote: Native Americans, ranchers, farmers, and the people who settled the High Plains Country.

On the day of the 150th anniversary of the Battle of the Little Bighorn, the Mari Sandoz Society invites you to join us for a celebration of our collaboration with the University of Nebraska at Kearney and to recognize Sandoz’s significant contribution to our knowledge of this event. Featuring a screening of the Nebraska Public Media documentary, "Mari Sandoz, The Story Teller's Mark," and short presentations from Dr. Nathan Tye (University of Nebraska at Kearney) on Mari Sandoz's relationship with Kearney and Dr. Renée Laegreid (University of Wyoming) on Mari Sandoz and the Battle of Little Bighorn, this event is free and open to the public.
