Last year I needed to have some professional hours so I took an Early Learning Guidelines course on physical development of young children. During the course the leader talked about children learning to swing on their own. The correct answer in the course was about 4 years old! I shared with them and let them know we have quite a few 2 year olds that can swing on their own at Children's Circle.
The key is the right equipment and gentle encouragement. Later in the morning one of these children returned to the swing and asked me to push her. I reminded her that she can do it on her own!

The maple tree in the P2 playground is magnificent this year. We are enjoying its beauty as we relish the beautiful fall weather this week!

Ms Jordyn had a big October! She was the Lincoln Littles October Teacher of the Month! She is so deserving of this recognition and we are so very blessed to have her as an integral part of Children’s Circle Montessori School.
She also claimed the title of Mom to a beautiful and healthy baby boy!
After watching a quick instructional video, a group of our older children took on flying a kite. A few of them had prior flying experience and took the lead in measuring wind direction, and they all enjoyed counting down together before taking off at a run. Lots of problem solving and lots of running, what a great time!

little hands, BIG purpose!! These two students were fully emerged in their practical life works of table scrubbing and dishwashing. Both of these works serve an external and internal purpose. External purpose being that the table and dishes were cleaned. Internal purpose being sense of order, sense of belonging in their environment, confidence, and independence. 🫧🧽😃

Big shoutout and thank you to all that attended the open house at P1! I love seeing the reactions of the parents when the children confidently show their way around the classroom and choose work they eagerly work on during their days at school. They really do become the guides in these opportunities. So proud of all our students and so thankful for all the support of our families always!

Thank you all for joining us at CCM for our fall open house at P2. The children have been working on learning the 5 areas of our Montessori classroom - Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language, and Cultural - and making independent work choices. We saw a lot of that going on as well as some children giving their parents “lessons” on the materials they have worked so hard to master themselves. It’s so wonderful seeing it all come full circle in these moments and we absolutely could not do it without our incredible families ❤️

This child received a lesson on the geometric solids earlier this week. Today she got it out independently and went to work on it. It brings great joy to see them be so proud of work they complete independently and working hard toward mastery of each work.

Practical life presents beauty that’s one of a kind. This morning I had the privilege of observing this child wash these apples and help prepare them for morning snack. Watching their minds think and work through the PROCESS always amazes me. Encourage them to help with these roles in the home, they take a lot of pride and feel a sense of belonging when asked to help! 😀🍎🧽👏🏼
