Today’s tour at MCC’s Construction Education Center, expertly led by Katie Graves Bullie, provided our Workers Faculty of America students with a comprehensive view into the trades. Katie’s professionalism was evident as she guided us through state-of-the-art workshops and labs showcasing skills from welding to modular home building, and advanced facilities for finish carpenters, electricians, and plumbers. We also explored cutting-edge HVAC systems, civil engineering labs, and excavating equipment simulators. Her deep knowledge not only highlighted the educational paths but also the practical applications that await our future professionals in the construction industry. We’re immensely grateful to Katie and Metropolitan Community College (Nebraska) for this invaluable exploration into the heart of construction education.

Had a fruitful meeting with James Krenz, Grant Manager and Compliance Officer from the International Council for Refugees and Immigrants (ICRI). We explored collaboration and partnership opportunities between ICRI, RabFak Construction, and Workers Faculty of America on projects designed to support professional development and employment for immigrant communities.

We are excited to contribute to the ICRI’s Employers Engagement Program and the Refugee Microenterprise Development Program. Together, we aim to make a positive impact and help our communities grow and prosper.

Banking and Financial Aspects of Small Business with Madina Haase, Small Business Specialist at US Bank 🏦

Today’s class, on July 2nd, was incredibly valuable! Madina Haase, fluent in four languages, shared essential advice on opening bank accounts, credit lines, business loans, and managing cash flow. Participants asked numerous questions, turning the session into a lively discussion.

This session inspired all of us and highlighted the importance of building strong relationships with your bank for successful business operations.

The Certified Construction Professional Program is free of charge, conducted in Russian, and accessible to immigrant individuals who speak Russian.

Today, Tuesday, June 25th, our class focused on the legal aspects of running a small business, especially for construction contractors.

Thanks to attorney Justin Tyree from Tyree Law Firm, we learned all the details and nuances of this important aspect. He provided a thorough explanation of various business structures and their features.

This was an incredibly valuable session that will help our participants build successful and legally protected businesses. 💼🔨

Today marked the beginning of our ‘Certified Construction Professional Program’! We had a productive first session, and we are excited about the journey ahead. Special thanks to Heartland Workforce Solutions for supporting the program and providing the classroom space.

We also welcomed our participants: Max M., Serhii S., and Marina G. We wish them the best of luck in building their new careers!

This is the first program in Nebraska conducted in Russian, providing a unique opportunity for all Russian-speaking immigrants. Our summer program runs until July 16th, with classes every Tuesday at 5:30 PM at Heartland Workforce Solutions, 5752 Ames Ave, Omaha, NE 68104.
