Congratulations to our very own Heather Burback for being the first recipient of this honor! We are grateful to have both her and Anna as educators at Fredstrom!

🌟 Celebrating a Mentor Teacher Making a Lasting Impact!🌟

We are proud to introduce Heather Burback, teacher at Fredstrom Elementary and recipient of the NDE Mentor Teacher Impact Award!

Heather was nominated by her former apprentice, Anna Ackah, who shared how Heather’s mentorship helped her grow from a paraeducator into a confident special education teacher.

Heather opened doors to every part of the profession- co-teaching, small groups, IEP meetings, collaboration with colleagues, and real-world problem-solving. She provided thoughtful feedback, shared her special education expertise, and always connected learning to authentic classroom experiences.

But what Anna remembers most is how Heather made her feel welcomed, valued, supported, and part of the team. 💙

Thank you, Heather, for investing in Anna and helping grow the next generation of Nebraska educators! Your impact will continue far beyond the classroom. 🍎
