Peter and the Starcatcher sailed all the way to State and dropped anchor with a 3rd place finish! This production reminded us that home isn’t just a place; it’s the people who show up, believe in you, and help you find your way when the waters get rough.
Endless thanks to our Theatre Boosters for organizing fan mail and goody bags that made our students feel so loved, and to Jill Swank, who spearheaded fundraising for goody bags, cast and crew dinners, and our State t-shirts—your work wrapped our kids in care. Thank you to our parents and community for your generous donations, your trust, and a send-off to State that reminded our students just how supported they are.
We are deeply grateful to Elle Barts, Nick Herink, Melissa Walburn, Max Apel, Jack Welstead, and Zach Johannes for the time, coaching, and thoughtful feedback you shared with our cast and crew. Your voices helped sharpen the storytelling and elevate the work. And to our cast and crew—thank you for the countless hours, the problem-solving, the persistence, and the joy you poured into this show. Your dedication made the magic possible.
We are proud to celebrate individual honors as well. Claire Rooney, Myles Hardt, Gavin Foust, Washburn Hoffman, Hayden Mitchell, Ava Swank, Wade Combs, and Alister Murtagh received Outstanding Acting Awards at State. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition.
A special shoutout to our one act seniors, who helped build the program we are so proud of today: Elizabeth Elitzin (2 years), Gavin Foust (1 year), Myles Hart (3 years), Liv Janagin (1 year), Mindy Lierz (3 years), Ethan Phan (3 years), Claire Rooney (4 years), Cinae Schneider (4 years), Mimi Strong (4 years), Ava Swank (3 years), Cora Tinsley (2 years), Jordan Uglow (1 year), and Jerrica Zhang (4 years). We simply could not have built the legacy we hope to maintain without them. Your leadership shaped this team and set the standard for those who follow.
We will miss Peter and the Starcatcher—the laughter, adventure, and the reminder that family is found, forged, and fiercely held. As we say goodbye to this chapter, we hold onto the truth at the heart of the show:
“It’s supposed to hurt! That’s how you know it meant something.”
And it meant so much. 💙⚓✨

If you know a member of the Epic Productions one act team, congratulate them on an epic showing at yesterday’s A-1 district competition! Judges awarded us first place, recognized every single actor with an acting award, and recognized Jack Welstead as one of the two outstanding actors for the day!
Thank you to all of the competing teams for a great day of theatre and break a leg at state, Malcolm! We loved watching your show.
We are headed to state in Norfolk on Friday, with a performance time of 5:15. More information on travel to come. If you see a cast or crew member, CONGRATULATE them on their win. The work they have put into this show and the rallying they have done as a team is truly commendable.
