NCSA had a special visitor drop in this morning. It was great catching up with the one and only Dr. Dan Ernst!

Dr. Ernst spent 17 years here at NCSA, retiring in 2023.

It's been five years since Safe2Help Nebraska went statewide. NCSA was proud to support that legislation then, and we're even more proud of the impact it's had since.

NCSA honored its affiliate awards winners during Administrators’ Days, culminating with the announcement of the 2026 Nebraska Superintendent of the Year, Dr. Aaron Plas (Bennington Public Schools).

Other award-recipients included:

Last week at Administrators' Days, NCSA presented Dr. Mike Teahon with the NCSA Distinguished Service Award.

“There are so many great people in this room who do amazing things. Every child benefits from your work, even though every person doesn’t recognize the work you do.”

Dr. Teahon currently serves as Department Chair and Associate Professor for the University of Nebraska-Kearney’s Educational Administration program and has long been active at the state level, serving as Chair of the NCSA Executive Board from 2014-2015. He was the Nebraska Superintendent of the year in 2018, and served his final 18 years in public education as superintendent of Gothenburg Public Schools.

We had 358 school leaders participate in Administrators in Action. On their behalf, Blue Cross Blue Shield of NE presented a $5,000 check to the Nebraska Community Foundation's Wildfire Recovery Fund.

During this morning's general session, we honored Chair of the Executive Board Dr. Chip Kay for his exemplary leadership. Kay currently serves as superintendent of Columbus Public Schools.
