Carroll School

Carroll School Children with dyslexia see the world differently. We love that. Working together as a community, teachers empower students to become confident lifelong learners.

Carroll School welcomes students in grades 1-9 exactly as they are—with all of their strengths, talents, challenges, and lived experiences—and changes lives forever. Located in Lincoln, Waltham and Wayland, Massachusetts, Carroll School is a dynamic independent day school for elementary and middle school students who have been diagnosed with specific learning disabilities in reading and writing, s

uch as dyslexia. Small, supportive classrooms allows educators to foster self-confidence, resilience, and meet the academic needs for each child. The school is committed to providing development opportunities that give teachers the professional tools and resources to ensure their success in the classroom.

Carroll teachers as students! Thanaydi Sandoval, Alissa Benway, and Becka Hitchcock had the opportunity to travel to Little Rock, Arkansas to attend the Facing History Institute: Leading for Change: Transformational Tools.

They had the privilege of meeting Dr. Terrence Roberts, one of the nine black students who integrated Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1957. One of his messages was to keep moving forward, and learn from what you experience to be able to better deal with what comes next. We thank him for his courage, wisdom and continued inspiration.

From Head of School, Renee Greenfield …

When in Nashville….

As always, the ALDS | Association of LD Schools Summit did not disaapoint!

Together with Carroll School division heads Meghan Shea, Allison West + Kate Collins, we engaged with all over the country in service to students with and our mission.

Thanks to the ALDS board and Cheryl Cook who continue to create spaces that cultivate connection, deep thinking, friendship, service, + JOY!

For me, it’s an annual reminder of my WHY and all the reasons we choose to stay in this (incredible, joyful, challenging) work.

Shout out to our Excelle: A Women’s Leadership Collective crew, Andrea D., and my wise friend, Claudia Koochek.

👏 A special day for our 5th graders!

With cheers, high fives, and smiles all around, our 5th graders made their way through a school-wide clap out before joining their families for the annual Step Up Ceremony. As they prepare to leave the Lower School and begin their Middle School journey, the celebration offered a chance to showcase their writing and reflect on a year filled with growth, friendship, and memorable experiences.

Students shared favorite Carroll memories—from Winter Breakfast and Treetop Adventures to tutoring, turtles, Fall Festival, and the everyday moments that made this year special. The ceremony also included the presentation of ERIK Awards, a special “snowy” math award ❄️, and completion certificates recognizing this important milestone.

Congratulations, 5th graders! We can’t wait to see all you’ll accomplish in Middle School. 💙

✨ Celebrating growth, leadership, and achievement.

Today, our Middle School community gathered for the Special Recognition Awards Ceremony, honoring students who have demonstrated perseverance, curiosity, creativity, service, citizenship, and a commitment to the HAWKS values throughout the year. From academic excellence and leadership as mentors to achievements in the arts, athletics, Makers, Bounders, and performing arts, the ceremony highlighted the many ways our students contribute to and strengthen our community.

Congratulations to all of our award recipients and to every student whose hard work, growth, and character made this year one to celebrate.

🇺🇸The 4th Grade State Fair was a celebration of learning, creativity, and confidence!

The afternoon began with the presentation of the ERIK Awards, recognizing two students who exemplified our values of Empathy, Respect, Inclusion, and Kindness. We know every 4th grader demonstrated ERIK throughout the year, which was acknowledged by Ms. Shea.

Then came a crowd favorite: the students’ state tourism commercials! Packed with fascinating facts and plenty of humor, the videos showcased not only what students learned about their states, but also their creativity and personality.

Families then toured the exhibits, exploring display boards and chatting with students about their research. From state symbols and landmarks to unique local traditions, our 4th graders proudly shared their expertise.

What a fantastic way to celebrate a year of learning! ⭐
