Bryce Dibbern and Black Hills State University Rodeo Team had a great day at Creekside Elementary School talking with over 500 kids in Spearfish, South Dakota. As many of these college rodeo athletes come from ranches themselves, they take the time to explain each individual rodeo event and how they are similar to the western lifestyle many of us have the pleasure to live. Most of these children that they met with do not live on farms or ranches, and many of them did not fully understand where their food comes from until that day after taking part in the NIRA - Western Education Program.
These college rodeo athletes have made a difference in over 500 lives in just one short visit to a school before their home rodeo!

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Rodeo making a difference across the world as they put a spin on the NIRA - Western Education Program this past weekend! College rodeo athletes from across the Great Plains Region took time to speak with over 100 international students and families who traveled to the United States for education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. There was not a single person in this group from overseas that had attended a rodeo before, so this was their first chance to learn about the sport and how it is directly related to the ranching practices used in the cattle industry today.
These young collegiate rodeo athletes are not only making a difference in the U.S. but also all across the entire world! College rodeo athletes are becoming leaders and making a huge impact on the rodeo industry, our western life style, and agriculture!

College Rodeo Athletes from South Dakota State University and University of Nebraska-Lincoln made a great stop Friday morning at Hillcrest elementary to educate them about the sport of rodeo and how it relates to agriculture with the NIRA - Western Education Program. During this visit there were many great questions about why we compete in rodeo and how rodeo fits in with agriculture. The questions that were asked by these elementary students were excellent, and it really puts things into perspective that there is a big disconnect between the producers and the consumers, and there is a great need to share our story! When the presentation was finished these students were able to tell us how agriculture impacts their lives, and the connection rodeo has with Ag! It was an amazing morning to see these kids excited about the western way of life and to know they now understand where their food, clothes, and fuel comes from!

Josh Davison New Mexico State University and college rodeo athletes from Central Arizona College took the time to stop at Florence Elementary before the Rodeo began to talk with the students about rodeo and agriculture. They helped the kids rope and provided the kids with an opportunity to see the gear and equipment used in the sport of rodeo. The kids had lots of questions for the college students, which goes to show performing these classroom visits across the nation is making a difference for the western way of life. When the NIRA - Western Education Program was finished that day, the elementary kids had a better understanding of the sport of rodeo, agriculture and also where their food comes from.

Garden City Community College
Farm Bureau Association- Friends on the farm day.
January 15th, 2016
Students attended: 730
Garden City Community College Rodeo Team had their hands full as they helped the Finney County Farm Bureau Association with Friends on the Farm. There where approximately 730 4th grade students representing 13 grade schools from different 3 counties attending this great endeavor at the Finney County Fairgrounds.
The rodeo students along with local FFA students served as group
leaders for the students to attend different stations and presentations about Agriculture. They had their own station where they presented information about the importance of safe handling of livestock and how it correlates with Rodeo. The kids were then given the opportunity to rope the dummy, and ask the cowboys and cowgirls questions about life out on the farm and ranch.
They also received many thank you letters from the 730 4th grade students!
