Several folks from the department represented University of Nebraska-Lincoln Entomology at the Women in STEM event held last weekend in Lincoln for female high school students. On Friday evening, PhD student Hannah Stowe (mentored by Julie Peterson) and John Ruberson worked at a recruiting table and had a great experience with visitors. On Saturday, Lise Pingault and Leslie Rault-Bucklin (pictured next page) shared the exciting world of molecular biology in entomology with the high school students.

Her seminar is titled, “Integrated Honey Bee Education and Research Aids for Promoting Pollinator Conservation.” Courtney is mentored by Drs. Judy Wu-Smart, Louise Lynch-O’Brien, and Susan Weller, UNL Entomology Department.

On Friday, April 8, 2022, at noon CT the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Entomology department will host Araceli Gomez (see attached flyer) as our seminar speaker. The title of her seminar is “Understanding the effects of using perennial grasses for biofuel on pollinator communities in west central Nebraska.” Araceli is mentored by Dr. Julie Peterson and Dr. Autumn Smart.
