The Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders (SECD) is one of seven
academic departments in the College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Housed in the Barkley Memorial Center on Nebraska's East Campus, SECD includes the special education, speech-language pathology, and audiology programs. It is also home to the Barkley Speech Language and Hearing Clinic, which sees patients of all ages.

Last (but certainly not least) Audiology!

Our students in the Audiology program just returned from a study abroad trip to Denmark!

While there, they learned about the different Audiology equipment used in many parts of Europe as well as how Audiology is studied differently overseas

Our students just returned from a trip to Belize where they got to engage with the local community, experience a new culture, and explore new geography 🌎

This May we are celebrating , which helps raise awareness to more than 40 million Americans who live with speech, language, and hearing challenges.

Here in the Barkley Memorial Center, we not only have the opportunity to treat these individuals from across Nebraska, but we also have the opportunity to teach, train, and prepare individuals in our degree areas to successfully help individuals in need nationwide.
