Please join us on Friday, March 27th, at 4 pm in Avery 115 for the 2026 Pi Mu Epsilon Lecture! Our speaker this year is associate professor, author, and speaker Noah Giansiracusa from Bentley University. The lecture will be preceded by a lunch in Avery 348 from 12:00–1:15 pm. All are welcome to attend, and we hope to see you there!

The Graduate Open House starts today! Fifteen prospective graduate students will be visiting our department this weekend, arriving today from all over the country. They will be meeting with faculty and graduate students, visiting classes, and learning about UNL.

Special seminar incoming! Join us on Wednesday, March 11th, at 3:30 pm in A203 Kiewit Hall (1700 Vine St) for "Ocean Modeling in the High Desert" presented by Dr. Mark Peterson from Los Alamos National Laboratory.

In addition to the talk, he will be available for a Q&A session from 10 to 10:30 am. We hope you can join us!

Our 28th Annual Rowlee Lecture (https://math.unl.edu/howard-rowlee-lecture-2026/) featured Professor Qing Nie (https://faculty.sites.uci.edu/qnie/) from University of California, Irvine who gave a wonderful presentation on ``Systems Learning of Single Cells." We learned about great research discoveries in orchestrating the multitudes of cells, building on the rich worlds of mathematics and biology. 🧬🔬🦠

Congratulations to the 152 Data Science and Math students named on the Dean's List and the 15 students named on the Dean’s Commendation List for Fall 2025! All of these students obtained at least a 3.75 GPA with those on the Dean's List completing at least 12 credit hours, and those on the Dean’s Commendation List completing 6-11 credit hours.
