National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska
We are the voice of Nebraska's blind; educating people about blindness, gaining civil rights, and ensuring blind children have the education they deserve.
The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back. Organized on January 31, 1971, the National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska i

NFB BELL Academy of Nebraska had the opportunity to meet Dodge County Sheriff Dustin Weitzel and Sergeant Bree Frank. During their visit, the officers spoke to us about the different aspects of police work and answered students questions. Then they talked about all the different gear they utilize while on the job. Students were able to try on a Kevlar vest, a police helmet, and they all got to sit in the back of a cruiser! Water bottles, fidgets and sheriff hats were given to the students, followed by a lights and sirens demonstration before the officers headed back to work.
Thanks to Dodge County Sheriffs Department and to Sheriff Weitzel and Sergeant Frank for the educational and hands on experience!!

It has been an exciting day of presentations, and tonight we gather for one of the highlights of the convention, our annual banquet.
Before dinner, be sure to stop by the photo studio to have your picture taken and check out the many great auction items available for tonight’s auction.
Tonight’s keynote speaker is Anil Lewis, our National Representative and a dynamic leader in the movement!
Born in Atlanta, Anil lost his sight as a young adult while completing college, then mastered the skills of blindness and went on to become a national leader, advocate, and changemaker. Today he serves as Executive Director of Blindness Initiatives for the National Federation of the Blind, helping expand innovative programs in education, employment, and independence across the country.
Anil has inspired Federationists nationwide with his message of high expectations, opportunity, and believing in what is possible.
