13 years ago today, Odyssey through Nebraska was born. Looking back, I can't help but smile at so many wonderful memories made in so many places. Many of the locations I didn't even know about when I first began. At the time, I was living in Lincoln. Now we have been living in Seward County for over 8 years. (I didn't see that change coming either!) So grateful for all of the opportunities that God has provided. Here's to more adventures as there are many more stories waiting to be told.

Rarely do I take the time to go shopping. But when I had my overnight adventure in Central City several weeks ago, I was able to go into several adorable stores. Including this one!

Magnolias Boutique was the vision of two local hairdressers who decided that they needed to offer clients some fun fashion options. Now the boutique is full time, and the store has so many wonderful options. I had a hard time narrowing down my selections.

One of their moms has joined in the fun by opening up a screen printing shop. I found a shirt that I liked for my daughter, but it was not the right size. They literally made me one right away, and I walked out the door with it about 5 minutes later.

As you can tell, they have nice gift options as well. I brought some fun things home for my family. And yes, I did buy my mom a matching shirt for Mother's Day. If you do not live close enough to Central City, you can order online from this wonderful Boutique. I definitely hope to return and shop there again.

I stopped by Stromsburg again on my way to Norfolk. When we were there on Saturday, we left in the pouring rain. So I didn't get to get pictures of my friend, Elisa's artwork on the Buckley Park picnic pavilion. This is only a glimpse into this charming which provides the perfect introduction to this quaint small town. Enjoy learning more about the town's beginnings from the historical marker. I know that I am partial to Swedish designs because I grew up seeing them in my own home. (My mom is 100% Swedish, and my dad is 50/50.) My friend did a wonderful job with her design.

Rain maybe stopped the parade. But it didn't stop us enjoying time today in Stromsburg despite parts of the Swedish Festival being cancelled. K connected with friends. And I had a great time learning more about town history. And exploring the art gallery. We also discovered a really cute store. Photos are not necessarily shared in order. I will definitely be sharing more about this lovely town in the future.

At the end of February, I officially completed my classes at Concordia. I finished my master's degree in literacy with a reading endorsement. Graduation happened to be the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend. With our busy May (including our son's wedding), I chose not to walk in the ceremony. Instead, we had a large family lunch celebration. I told them that our gathering meant that they did not have to sit through a 2-hour ceremony. So I requested that they cheer when my husband passed off the graduation plate in lieu of a diploma. Last Saturday, the document arrived in the mail, so now I feel official.

I truly loved my time learning at Concordia! (Ironically, despite the fact that I live 15 minutes away from campus, all of my classes were online. So I probably saw some of my professors at various places around town and didn't even know it. 🤣) The instructors were incredibly supportive, and I feel like what I was taught matched up with my thoughts on education, my beliefs and my worldview.

This is why I am thrilled to announce that I have the opportunity to teach dual credit classes for Concordia in the fall. This will be through the Lancaster Learning Link, a weekly learning opportunity set up for homeschooling families in the Lincoln area. I feel so blessed to continue my association with such a wonderful university!

After 30 years in the educational field, I truly love teaching. I never thought I would teach at the high school level, but I truly can't wait to interact with these next level students! What else excites me is the fact that our youngest son, who is going to be a senior, gets to be in both of my classes. Bet he never thought he would have his mom as a professor. 🤣
