Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day or Freedom Day, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It specifically marks the day, June 19, 1865, when 250,000 enslaved people in Texas, were informed of their freedom, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Applications are now open for eligible CFSP members interested in serving on the Board of Directors of the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice (APFSP).

To be considered, applicants must hold the Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) designation in good standing, and must have maintained their CFSP for a minimum of five years as of the 2026 election cycle. For 2026 eligibility purposes, applicants must have originally earned the CFSP designation in 2021 or earlier.

Applications must be received no later than June 30, 2026.
