Two Announcements for the Class of 2026

1) The Senior banners that were on display around town are now available for pickup at the MA main office.

2) Our IT department has several senior computers. If you would like yours, please come in by August 28. After that date, IT is going to recycle the computers.

Sorry for the late notice, but when you have 8:00 am practices, there isn't a lot of time before that to look at the weather, make decisions, and update everyone. Golf practice for today is cancelled because of the wet conditions (Coach Libby did tell the team yesterday at the golf tournament to use their best judgment). They will plan to start tomorrow instead.

Important changes for students coming for the 26-27 school year:

Recently, the State of Maine enacted a new law mandating a "Bell to Bell" BAN on cell phones and personal electronic devices in all public high schools. The intent of this state mandate is to reduce digital distractions, improve student mental health, and maximize instructional time.

Because we want our families to be fully prepared, we are sharing our implementation policy during the summer break.

What "Bell to Bell" Means at MA: Beginning on the first day of the 2026–2027 school year, cell phones, smartwatches, wireless earbuds, and other personal electronic devices are not allowed to be carried/worn or accessed for the duration of the entire school day (from the morning arrival bell to the afternoon dismissal bell).

Please note the following key details of our policy:

• Includes Breaks and Lunches: Unlike previous years, students will not be permitted to use their phones during passing periods, morning breaks, or lunch segments. The ban covers the entire school day.

• Individual Ownership and Accountability: The responsibility will be placed squarely on each individual student to follow the policy.

More information will come with the welcome back to school letter in August, but we wanted to let students and parents start these conversations and prepare for the coming school year.

MA Sophomores had 2 successful trips to Katahdin Woods + Waters National Monument to wrap up their unit on raising Atlantic Salmon. They toured the new contact station and learned about the indigenous people who historically lived on the land (and fished for/used Atlantic Salmon extensively in their culture). After the tour, we spent time at Lunksoos camping area (the area Don Fendler was found) and enjoyed a cookout.

As of today (Thursday), it looks like we have a schedule for tennis playoffs that is going to work out well, provided the weather holds and the rain on Saturday stays to the south.

Boys quarterfinal vs. Dexter 12:00 Saturday
Girls quarterfinal vs. PCSS 3:30 Monday

Also, JV tennis at Bangor on Saturday has been moved up to a 10:00 am start with the bus leaving at 8:00.
