1st & 2nd grade students had the opportunity to learn and experience the sport of lacrosse in P.E. class. Lacrosse has a unique history connecting Indigenous culture and the Catholic Church. The "Creator's Game" was originally played by Indigenous tribes as a way to honor the Creator. Catholic missionaries, particularly the Jesuits, encountered the game and recognized its importance to the Indigenous people they served. Over the centuries, Catholic schools and communities have continued to promote the game with a focus on teamwork, discipline, respect and a focus on honoring God.
Students were given a flyer which includes how to register for the fall season that begins on Sat. Sept. 12 with Lincoln Youth Lacrosse. For more information, you may reach out to the Lincoln Youth Lacrosse coach Matt Carpenter, who taught the PE lesson.
