Nebraska’s iconic Interstate 80 Bicentennial sculptures are entering the digital age.
As part of America 250 celebrations, the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts’ Edgeworks team partnered with the Nebraska Arts Council to 3D-scan and digitize all eight sculptures from Nebraska’s historic “500 Mile Sculpture Garden.” Seven sculptures were scanned on-site, while an eighth that no longer exists was digitally reconstructed from a scale model.
The project preserves a unique piece of Nebraska history and makes these landmark works of public art accessible to audiences across the state and beyond through immersive digital models and community exhibits.
