Last week, our tutors were setting up their stations and partnering with their students to create learning spaces rooted in respect 🤝, effort 💪, honesty 💬, and teamwork 🧩.

During the first week, they’ve focused on:

📊 Conducting assessments to identify student needs
📝 Establishing clear expectations together

Today is the Book Fair! Support the UNL Schmoker Reading Center at a book fair at the SouthPointe Barnes & Noble location (2910 Pine Lake Road) Friday!Kathy and Dr. Fisher will be at Barnes & Noble Southpointe today from 4-7 p.m.

Come take a photo in the Photo Booth, explore the store with a cryptiquest, check out the hot chocolate station, and chat with Kathy and Dr. Fisher.

Present the book fair voucher with barcode at checkout and a percentage of sales will be donated to the Reading Center.

Jaela Conner, graduate student in speech-language pathology, worked with her student on encoding the letter "a". Jaela's student wrote the letter first, and then Jaela would traced it. Handwriting, letter names, and letter sounds are essential pieces of writing and reading. Way to go, Jaela!

We are back in tutoring full swing! Here is Emma Lukowski, elementary education major, working with her student. In the first photo they are doing an interactive read aloud. This book must have been phenomenal because Scarlet, EduPup, insisted on being part of the read aloud! In the second phot Emma and her student are working on the writing process using Draw-Write-Edit. Wonderful teaching, Emma!
