This back-to-school season, let's recognize Lincoln Public Schools' Sustainability Department for doing their part to take care of Land Phil.

Our schools and educators take steps to save food, recycle, and teach students about what happens to garbage after it is thrown away. Thank you, LPS, for all you do. Have a great school year!

Do you have an idea about how to make Lincoln more sustainable?

Teams of youth ages 15-24 can apply for $1,000-5,000 micro-grants through Lincoln’s Youth Climate Action Fund.

Projects should focus on:
- Local Food 🍅
- Waste ♻️
- Transportation 🚴
- Climate Resilience ☀️

Applications are accepted August 26th - October 7th.

Solar panel arrays at LPS have been soaking up the sun this summer. In just June and July, they generated over 42 MWh of energy! That's enough to power four homes for an entire year ☀️🎉

This summer, the Sustainability Team was hard at work "resetting" containers across LPS to improve waste sorting and consistency. ♻️🗑️ As part of this effort, Holmes Elementary joins 15 other amazing schools participating in schoolwide composting! 🥳
