On March 31st, a few lopers went to the capital for the NAfME Hill Day where they were able to talk about music education with our senators!

Here is what Zoey Smallwood, a freshman music education major, had to say about the experience:
"When I went to the capitol I had no idea what to expect. It was a pleasant surprise to find so many people who were passionate for the same cause, and I was able to meet more future music educators. I learned a lot more about how to advocate for the changes I want to see and how to get to know my senator better. I really enjoyed the experience of speaking with the people at the capitol: senators, college students and current educators alike. I would definitely like to go back to do it again to remind myself how important it is to form those personal connections!"

UNK Lopers were all over the midwest last weekend!

The first to leave was the ten lopers selected to participate in the Nebraska Intercollegiate Band! Those ten were Jacob Temme, Evan Porter, Aiden Zaro, Ike Smith, Benjamin Prentice, Daniel McCarty, Avery Reitz, Kaia Johnson, Emily Schwaiger, and Chloe Harms!

Next, we have the UNK Pep Band! They played at the MIAA tournament in Kansas City to cheer on our men's and women's basketball team!

Finally, Rebecca Hoffman and Alana Zimbelman played at the North American Saxophone Region Three Conference in Brookings, South Dakota. Alana played in a masterclass with Dr. Kenneth Tse. Rebecca played in a masterclass with Dr. Ann Bradfield

NAfME is so proud of everyone who performed this week. Everyone did a great job! Go lopers!
