A big thank you to our final group of Keppen volunteers for spending time in the garden with our students. Together, we planted a pizza garden and a salsa garden, giving students hands-on experience growing their own food. To top it off, everyone enjoyed chips and salsa from the Detroit Salsa Company!!

Our school garden needs your help!

We are looking for volunteers of all ages to assist with tasks such as weeding, watering, and harvesting produce throughout the summer. If you need community service hours or are simply looking for a meaningful way to spend some time outdoors, we would love to have you join us.

Earlier this month, our garden leaders visited Eastern Market to pick up hot crop plants for the garden, stopped at the spice store by popular request, and enjoyed a farm-to-table restaurant. We had a great time and are excited to keep watching everything grow and thrive!

Big thank you to Mr. Reese’s construction class for rebuilding and repairing some of our garden beds that were in need of some love. We truly appreciate all of your hard work and support for our garden program!

The Mixter Garden offers so many opportunities for PBIS support, especially through the Mixter/Keppen partnership where our students shine as garden leaders. It was also so special having Lafayette come back to see how much everything they planted has grown. Watching students take pride, work together, and care for the garden has been amazing to see!!

Loved having the students from Lafayette School at the gardens today. Thank you for coming out, getting your hands in the soil and spending the day gardening with us. It was such a great day of learning, growing, and working together. We always enjoy sharing the garden with others and can’t wait to welcome you back again soon!!!
