KNOW THYSELF
The most powerful instruction ever given to humanity.
Every war begins with someone who doesn’t know themselves.
Every addiction begins with someone trying to escape themselves.
Every unhealthy relationship begins with someone searching for themselves in another person.
The ancient inscription “Know Thyself” wasn’t asking you to memorize your personality.
It was asking you to discover the one who exists beneath it.
Most people know their name.
They know their job.
They know their political views.
They know what they like and dislike.
But these are not the Self.
They are identities the mind has collected.
The real journey begins when you ask:
Who is aware of these thoughts?
When you begin observing your mind instead of automatically believing it, something extraordinary happens.
You discover that anger is not you.
Fear is not you.
Jealousy is not you.
Even your story is not you.
They are experiences appearing within awareness.
This changes everything.
Because if you are not your thoughts…
then you no longer have to obey them.
If you are not your emotions…
then you no longer have to become them.
If you are not your conditioning…
then you are free to rewrite it.
This is why self-awareness is the foundation of every spiritual tradition and every path of psychological healing.
Without awareness, your childhood programs become your destiny.
With awareness, your unconscious becomes conscious.
Carl Jung captured this beautifully:
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
To know yourself is to illuminate the hidden architecture of your mind.
You begin to see:
• The wounds driving your reactions.
• The beliefs shaping your reality.
• The ego protecting old pain.
• The shadow controlling you from behind the scenes.
• The Observer that has remained untouched through every experience of your life.
The greatest discovery isn’t that you become someone new.
It’s that you stop confusing yourself with what you are not.
When this realization deepens, life changes.
You respond instead of react.
You choose instead of compulsively repeating.
You create instead of unconsciously surviving.
Knowing yourself is not self-improvement.
It is the gradual removal of everything that was never truly you.
The moment you truly know yourself…
No one can manipulate your identity.
No circumstance can define your worth.
And no fear can convince you that you’ve forgotten who you are.
Because the one who knows… cannot be lost.

Beltane is the old fire festival of fertility, protection, passion, and the full arrival of summer. Traditionally celebrated around May 1st, it marked the turning of the year toward growth, abundance, and life in full bloom. Bonfires were lit, homes were decorated with fresh greenery and flowers, and people honored the balance between earth and spirit—what grows around us often reflects what grows within us. As Above, So Below means exactly that: tend the outer world, and you shape the inner one; nurture the inner self, and life around you responds in kind.

A simple Beltane ritual can be as easy as lighting a candle or small fire at sunset. Sit with it for a few quiet moments and think about what you want more of this season—joy, peace, prosperity, love, confidence, healing. Write it down if you’d like, then speak it aloud. Historically, people passed near the Beltane fires for blessing and protection, so even standing near your flame with intention carries that same spirit forward.
