C&O Canal/GAP ride start date

October 16th is the last day for the early departure of the Amtrak Flordian train. This train leaves Pittsburgh at 525am and gets to D.C. at 110 pm. This would give us time to see some of D.C.’s sites before we start out on the C&O Canal trail then the GAP back to Pittsburgh. Not sure how many days we will spend on the trip (seeing sites and riding) but I think the minimum is 4 and the longest would be 7.

The official planning has started. I received the Trail guide for the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) and C&O Canal path ride. I will be reviewing the information in this booklet, meeting with some people who have taken this ride, along with others who are interested in joining me on the ride in October. We will then decide whether to take the Amtrak from Pittsburgh to Washington DC and ride the trails back or ride the trails from Pittsburgh down to DC and then take the Amtrak back to Pittsburgh. The date has been set; we will ride the trails between the 16th and 24th of October (4-7 day ride, exact dates to be determined). Let me know if you're interested in joining the ride, participating in the planning phase or just looking for more information, by sending me a DM. There's lots of Civil War sites and scenery to view on this ride.
