Everybody else - I'd love to share some quick ideas so you can make music too. We are made for making music in one form or another. Comment in the post if you need some quick ideas for piano/keyboard music-making. You don't know what you're capable of until you start to experiment and play with sounds. Just do it...

Hi! I know it's been a bit since last posting. Life is crazy for all of us so I'm not going to give excuses. Classes ARE going forward in the studio and there are some exciting updates coming. Just gotta get ahead of the schedule first. I have been making time for family things and it has been a good thing! Soon it will be time to make music with YOU, too!

In the meantime, if you want to schedule a personal Meet-n-Greet to get a complementary introduction to the studio, please call or text. There is no obligation and the only cost is your time.

On the horizon is summertime "Blast Off" mini-camps to introduce students to piano. We had such a "blast" last summer! Just ask those who kept on learning through this school year. Dates to come, but they will be after June 10th.

Hi and Merry Christmas to all you Music-Makers and future musicians! Stay tuned for winter class schedules coming soon.

There may be slight delayed in restarting after the New Year's holiday. Your teacher appreciates the extra time to be with her family.
.. but HAVE NO FEAR, class time will soon be here! In the meantime - try this fun improvisation:

1. Select your favorite Christmas time tune words
2. Put 5 fingers (one- or two-handed, your choice) over 5 neighboring black keys.
3. Speak the words to the tune in the same speed (rhythm) you would sing it
4. At that same time, play a black key for each syllable: you can repeat keys, move to a new key next to the previous one or skipping around. It's alright if your pattern starts to change, as long as you like it and it sounds Christmas-y
5. Graduate by moving to other black keys and experimenting with the right pedal (damper) or sustain pedal (keyboard) and other sound patches, if your instrument has them.

"I wish I created more music this summer!" Did you say that, or even, just think it now?

It's been a great season with beginning piano summer classes and solo lessons. We have learned about piano key names, feeling the beat of a song, exploring how amazing the black keys sound when used to create songs - who knew you don't have to READ music to invent your own, satisfying, fun, sounds? We did!

Good news - you haven't missed your chance. Classes are starting again in September for Beginners (K-1, grades 2-5, 6-8, and of course older beginners). There are a few spaces open in each group.

BLAST OFF WITH PIANO JUNIOR

Monday, June 5 through Friday, June 9, from 3:30pm - 4:30pm for beginners in kindergarten and 1st grade.

This camp-like group will experience how much fun piano classes are while learning how to count rhythm and about the keys on the piano!
An in-class recital for family and friends wraps up the fun at 4:00 during Friday's class!
The Fine Print: Pre-registration with all inclusive tuition payment ($150) is required by Saturday, June 3, 2023. This class runs with a minimum of 3 participants and a maximum of 6.

Group Beginning Piano Classes Starting in Lima, OH!

Sep 12 - Dec 14, 2022

Three groups of Beginning Piano Class start the week of September 12, 2022 in Shawnee Township, Lima, OH! Peer participation classes are recognized to encourage effort and concentration and when combined with FUN, learning STICKS.

Pre-Level 1 is for Motivated Kindergarteners - 2nd grade who meet weekly for an hour. They will enjoy no-stress group learning and applying music-making concepts from the piano and through engaging group activities! Playing with backing tracks at home only increases the fun, between classes, along with sharing how much they know of music language and reading its notation.

Level 1 Keyboard Class, 2nd-5th grade music-makers, will play games, learn the language of music through piano playing and start decoding the written symbols of music notation. Ensemble pieces with the class are a BLAST as the music-makers confidently play unique parts together. rhythm, navigating piano keys AND creativity are all part of this hour-long weekly class!

Let's not forget those Older Beginners! This is a beginning level for a more accellerated group learning experience. Sixth grade through Adult will play piano together as the language of music-making is learned and experimented with. These classes are supportive and POSITIVE peer involvement is a requirement for participants. Creativity and collaboration are encouraged and taught during the weekly one-hour class.

Class sizes are 3-6 participants, in a fun, no-pressure setting. Learning about beat, rhythm, how to be creative and make music for your own enjoyment will be a part of all 3 groups. The older groups will experience the more in-depth rudiments of musical notation and how it applies to piano skills.

End of Term "performances" are all part of the fun, too! Open to the supporters of students, sure to please audience and performers alike. Dates will be announced at the first class and during registration process.

All piano classes will be in the teacher's Lima, OH studio.

Learning about the STEPS in the C Major pentascale, today. After playing a game to teach about steps and order, this music-maker recreated the C-Scale ladder and "proofed" with Careful Carl, our studio helper bear (he lives in a grage-more on that another day)! She is SO clever!
