🚌🚌 BUS TRAINING 🚌🚌

Did you know that we are doing behind the wheel training for bus drivers every week? This helps us get drivers certified so they can start driving routes!

In order to pass their test, they not only have to drive, but they also have to do an in-depth pre-trip inspection where they go through engine components, lights, brake testing, etc. It’s designed to ensure our students get to and from school safely.

Wish our two trainees who are testing this week good luck!!

🫏 The Mule, the Memories and the Class of 1957 🎓

A few members of Lillington High School’s Class of 1957 recently returned to walk the halls, revisit old classrooms and stand on the auditorium stage where they once graduated.

And the stories did not disappoint. 😂

One of the favorites? The time someone managed to put a mule in the principal’s office over the weekend. They laughed remembering what it must have been like when the principal walked in Monday morning and discovered both the mule — and everything the mule had left behind. 🫏😂

Then there was Mr. Walker, sitting beside Mrs. Walker in their old first-grade classroom with his arm around her, laughing as he pointed out that they weren’t allowed to sit like that back then.

We’re so thankful Mr. and Mrs. Walker and their classmate Mr. Nipper came back to visit and share their memories with us. Hearing their stories brought a little piece of Lillington High School history back to life. 💜

Lillington High alumni — what story would YOU tell if you walked those halls again? 👇

💸💰 $1.2 MILLION SAVED 💰💸

Over the summer, our maintenance team saved us roughly $1.2 million on a window installation project!!

South Harnett Elementary School is 75-years-old and the existing windows caused issues with keeping the hot and the cold outside from impacting the temperature inside the building.

As we received bids, our maintenance team stepped up and said they could do it, and much cheaper! They did such a great job!!!

Our maintenance crews are incredible! Show them some love in the comments below!

What helps improve the education students receive? When school and district leadership are on the same page about the goals and policies!!

Today we hosted all of our principals for the first meeting of the school year. Throughout the day they heard from leaders within the district concerning updates. They also heard advice for how to support their teachers, staff and students.

Our principals are balancing a lot and face the pressures of running a school and being the point person for so many various projects. They are awesome!!

We have so many exciting things happening in our schools and we’re so glad we have such a good team leading the way to greatness!

📋🥳 THE NUMBERS ARE IN 🥳📋

We served 30,472 meals to kids 18 years-old and younger this summer at no cost to them!

Harnett County Schools was able to provide these meals thanks to a federally funded USDA nutrition program.

Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy a meal and thank you to everyone who had a hand in preparing and distributing these meals. Our School Nutrition team members are rockstars!
