On September 23rd, HCHS Life Skills students celebrated Education Technology Day by learning all about coding! 🎉

Ms. Walter, Ms. Poole, and Ms. Woodard partnered with Ms. Perry and Ms. Holland to design a lesson that introduced students to how computer programs and apps are created and how they function. Students watched videos, learned key programming terms, and explored examples of writing basic code using the app Kodable.

Each student then got hands-on experience with an iPad, creating their own mazes and characters. As they advanced through coding levels, they earned fun rewards like badges, accessories, and even virtual pets! 🐾✨

To top off the day, every student received a certificate celebrating their Kodable achievements—making Education Technology Day both fun and memorable!

🐝 Students at Erwin Elementary are buzzing with excitement as technology becomes a natural part of their learning!

💻 In Kindergarten, students are building their skills in computational thinking and coding while also working on word families—combining fun and foundational learning.

🧠 Fourth graders are using BeeBots to explore cause and effect, bringing concepts to life through hands-on coding.

⚡ Our AIG students are sharpening their math skills by tackling EOG-style questions, then programming Sphero Bolts to travel to the correct answers—merging problem-solving with creativity.

✨ Technology is helping us think, create, and learn in new ways.

STEM Magic Strikes Again at Overhills Elementary!
Once again, Overhills Elementary School lit up the night with an electrifying STEM event that brought students and parents together for an evening full of hands-on challenges, creative problem-solving, and family fun! The building buzzed with energy as families explored science, technology, engineering, and math activities designed to spark curiosity and inspire young minds.

A special highlight? Students were able to select free books to take home—fueling both their imagination and their literacy journey.

A huge shout-out to Carla Butts and the phenomenal Overhills Elementary School staff for crafting such a welcoming and engaging experience. And let’s not forget the amazing Overhills High School students who stepped up as STEM coaches and guides, helping lead activities and support participants throughout the evening.

Awesome job to everyone involved—we’re already looking forward to the next one, and it’s sure to be even bigger and better!

Mrs. Moton's second class at Dunn Elementary took their learning to a whole new level with ClassVR! This week we dove into the fascinating world of animal habitats, using virtual reality to explore jungles, oceans, deserts, and more! From discovering where polar bears roam to stepping into the depths of the rainforest, the kids were amazed by how technology brought their lessons to life. It was a fun and interactive way to learn about the different ecosystems that animals call home!
