54th Stone Mountain Highland Games and Scottish Festival | October 16 - 18, 2026 Established in 1973, the Stone Mountain Highland Games and Scottish Festival is one of the oldest international festivals to take place in the Metro Atlanta area. It is very popular in the community and routinely draws participants from all over the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom (including Scotland, Northern Ireland and England), Ireland, Australia, and other parts of the world.

Scottish Highland Dancing is a celebration of the Scottish spirit. The dances are a spectacular combination of strength, agility, movement, music, and costume. Where do you fit into the Tartan Army? The St Andrew's Society Tartan Forest is made up of tartan banners that have been donated by members of the St. Andrew's Society of Atlanta. A group of members, maintain the banners and display them at meetings, kirkings, and other events in the Atlanta area. The Society has about 123 banners and will be displaying about 120 this year. At the Society's tent, not only is there is list of which tartans are on display this year but also a notebook with a list of the missing banners. Feel free to stop by and wander in a world of colors and heritage.

The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society's Fall Gala and Tartan Ball are parties within the party. Scottish Country Dancers from near and far will convene at our two annual dances held at the host hotel. Both the Gala on Friday and Saturday’s Ball feature many fun and interesting dances. Whether they date back to the 18th century or were published this year by local dancers, all the dances are even more exciting when danced to our musicians, Julie Gorka, Tom Pixton, and Mara Shea. Spectators are welcome to come watch the dances.

When you hear music across the field, you know the party is in full swing. Scottish music encompasses traditional folk music and various contemporary styles, characterized by unique melodies, rhythms, and instrumentation. It has significantly influenced global music, blending elements of folk, rock, pop, and jazz, while maintaining a strong cultural identity. SMHG has three stages that offer a wide variety of music that truly represents the culture.
Stage 1 houses our contemporary music groups. Here the power and up-tempo beat of contemporary music wed to Celtic themes and instrumentation can be found.

Stage 2 offers a more powerful musical offering fusing traditional offerings with contemporary themes and instruments.

Stage 3 features traditional acoustic music.

Ceud mìle fàilte dhuibh uile chun a' chèilidh! (A hundred thousand welcomes to you all to the party!)

The Stone Mountain Highland Games for Wee Laddies and Lassies is an entire corner of the woods turned into a miniature Highland Games for kids and teens of all ages! We are entirely volunteer driven and it is our mission to make lasting memories for every family that steps foot in our forest.

Our Lowland Athletics offers miniature (and safe!) versions of every major Scottish sport. Wee adventurers can practice with kid-sized equipment while parents rest easy knowing cabers won't cause any hefty "bonks" on the head—the perfect warmup before stepping onto the main field!

In addition to our Lowland Athletics, we feature a miniature St. Andrews golf course! Unlike the original, ours features themed holes ranging from gnomes to unicorns, all the way to Samhain (the origin of modern day Halloween). Be sure to see how many hidden fairies you can spot!

In the Highland Craft tent, our wee artisans can craft their own sporrans, and adventurers can prep their sword and shield before resuming their quest. We also have face painting!! We highly encourage the iconic Braveheart look!

Lest we forget the best scavenger hunt ever devised! Within our children's passport there is a scavenger hunt to lead our wee ones on a quest designed to teach ancient Scots culture and traditions while keeping young explorers engaged. Track down falcons, spot unicorns, find your clan, or pick a favorite tartan in the Tartan Forest!

And be sure to visit us on the 18th for a picture in Santa's Glen!
