Aloha e ka ʻohana!

Please save the date! Lā Paʻi Kiʻi (School Picture Day) is on Wednesday, September 9. We have partnered with Expressions Hawaiʻi this year. Ordering information will follow, but for now, please see the below flyer for package information and approximate pricing (the prices given DO NOT include retouching).

Please note, regardless of photo order, all students will be taking a picture September 9 for identification purposes. Picture Day will be a free dress day where our students can wear clothes of their choosing. No students are required to wear school uniform shirts in their school picture.

2026 sounds like the year we learn ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi as a family! Kumu Kaʻiulani will hold class every Monday and Tuesday in January except January 19. Classes will be VIRTUAL ONLY the first week. Mahalo!

Aloha kakou! Our Seniors will be making there way to Aotearoa for the World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education (WIPCE).
Theyʻre selling Alaheʻe plants for one of their fundraisers. Please DM us if you interested in purchasing a plant. Each plant is $20.

A Day in Poʻokela’s Mentorship at Wayne’s Enterprises.

When I got there in the morning, my mentor, Junior, asked me to help them put on this thing called a Blue Box. It is a part that goes onto this big box. This big box holds a tiny diesel engine that runs the a/c in the back of the truck. First, I had to read the instructions to figure out what I was working with and how to work it. Then I grabbed everything I needed. After I got everything, I went to the top of the truck, and I started to put the new part in. I had to put a shark fin looking part in the top, then weave a wire through and then connect them all. After I did that we went inside and everything seemed to be working. It was a good day.

Let’s see what Malani does during a typical day during his mentorship at Garden Island Rehabilitation!
Today was my first day working a new position at Garden Island Rehab. I moved from the coffee station to The Middle. When working in The Middle, you prep the fruits/salads, and drinks like juice, protein shakes, and sometimes soda. After I finished with all the drinks, I took a 45 min break till 11:10. When lunch service came around I stood in the middle station. When the
cook puts the food on their plates, I take those plates and put them on a bigger tray. I then have to read the ticket to see which drinks each resident gets. It took around 30 mins to finish all the resident’s plates and they let me go on another break because there was nothing else to do. Once 12:00 hit, I left. Mahalo to Patricia Wong, my mentor, for showing me the ropes!
