After the storm, our keiki noticed that this path was covered with branches and debris. So, they set to work. Together, they cleared the pathway, moved branches, and cared for a place that holds so many wonderful memories and adventures.

Their work was about more than cleaning up. It was about restoring a special place, caring for our ʻāina, and knowing that their actions make a difference.

As they worked, they were already thinking about the future, clearing the way so they can return to the Tree Tunnel and continue the many adventures that await them there.

This is part of how we help children heal: through connection, meaningful work, relationships, and the opportunity to care for the places they love.

Our elementary team is utilizing this summer to focus on instructional excellence! Last week, three of our teachers attended the UFLI (University of Florida Literacy Initiative) Conference to bring back cutting-edge literacy strategies to their work at Island School.

Additionally, all of our lower elementary teachers and TAs have been given the opportunity to study the most recent research-based curricula, ensuring a cohesive and high-quality educational experience for all of our elementary students this coming school year!
