🌊 Help KSA Rebuild After Hurricane Lowell! ⛵

Hurricane Lowell caused major damage to Kauaʻi Sailing Association’s waterfront home at Nāwiliwili Small Boat Harbor. Our clubhouse roof was severely damaged, and boats in our fleet were lost or badly damaged.

While we are fortunate to have insurance, we know there will be major out-of-pocket costs. We also lost one of our keelboats, and our new Lasers were damaged.

Our community has already shown up in an incredible way—keiki, families, members, and volunteers worked side-by-side to clean up debris, recover roofing from the Hulēʻia River and mangroves, and begin the rebuilding process. 💙

Now we’re asking for your help. We are fundraising so we don’t have to divert funds from our keiki programs to pay for storm repairs. Every dollar spent on rebuilding is money that would otherwise support sailing, Marine STEM education, camps, field trips, scholarships, and environmental stewardship.

Unfortunately, we are going to have to cancel this weeks After School Clubs in accordance with the counties brown water advisory. We are planning to restart after school clubs next week, and hope that the south bound traffic isn't too nuts for all our south-side sailors! This also gives us some more time to once again, comb through the grass and remove the rest of the hidden nails, tacks, and glass, all in hopes to be able to run around barefoot, as Kauaʻi sailors do 🤙 in the meantime, some pictures from our last After School Club

Yesterday was our community work day, and we got more cleaned than what we planned! Mahalo to everyone who brought ice, snacks, tools, trailers, and those who sat in hours of traffic. Mahalo for working hard in the sun, and doing the work with such a positive attitude. We truly could not have gotten all this done without you. Yesterday was our community work day, and we got more cleaned than what we planned! Mahalo to everyone who brought ice, snacks, tools, trailers, and those who sat in hours of traffic. Saturday, September 12th, at the KSA clubhouse in Nāwiliwili harbor. A quick rundown of what to expect tomorrow and what to bring! Please do not show up WITHOUT closed toe shoes. Hope to see you there!

Hurricane Lowell left a path of destruction through Nāwiliwili. Beyond the obvious damage to our roof, our clubhouse suffered building damages, damages to some of our dinghies, and to one of our keelboats. We are asking anyone who is able to, to come down on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 9 am to help clean up our clubhouse, around the harbor, and help eliminate as much soon-to-be ocean trash as possible. If it is safe for you to come down, please bring water/snacks, closed toe shoes, gloves, and clothes you donʻt mind getting dirty in. If you canʻt come down on Saturday, but still want to help, we have created a GoFundMe to help get our roof backup (https://gofund.me/9fcb45b65). Attention all parents! If your keiki participated in a summer camp, but you are unable to make it to After School Club, we have an opportunity for your sailor to get back on the water!⛵
We are starting a Saturday Youth Sailing Club, an extension of After School Club. This half-day class will be formatted and run on the same schedule as Beginner 1 After School Club. Since we are starting late in the quarter, we are offering a discount for the remainder of quarter 1! More details and sign up in the link in our bio! 🌞
